HomeMy Public PortalAboutCouncil on Aging Board -- 2022-02-17 MinutesMinutes of Brewster Council on Aging Advisory Board Meeting February 17, 2022 Present: Denise Rego, Director, Co-chairs Andrea Nevins and Sharon Tennstedt, Cindy Bingham (SB Liaison), Steve Holmes, Jay Greene, Honey Pivirotto (Fin Com Liaison), Penny Holeman, Janet Stolzer Absent: Laura Usher Meeting called to order and Governors' Orders read by Sharon Tennstedt at 1:00 pm Documents and exhibits: Minutes of January 20,2022, Meeting Agenda, Directors' Report, Action Plan Implementation FY22, Health Fair participants to date list, Health Fair presenters list, Grant Application Data Revised minutes of January 20, 2022 were unanimously approved. DIRECTORS' REPORT: - See Report Lisa has resigned as Program Director. The job will not be posted for a while due to a process issue. Denise will ask if the job will be put on an internal posting in the meantime. Older Americans Month and Health Fair - Denisewill investigate a date for the Health Fair at the Golf Course and then confirm the availability of the presenters. - The Police, Fire, Recreation and Health Departments will be asked to present as well. - Details of the Health Fair will be discussed next month. - Older Americans Month in May will include an ice cream social and more events to be discussed next month. AARP Grant Application - The Grant Application is moving along well with a request for a number of benches and tables. The value of the grant is currently $10,655. The benches and the octagonal shaped tables will be placed at the Freemans Way Bail Field. Sharon noted that the total grant amount may be less, as the DPW will install them. Liaison Reports Recreation Committee: The committee reported an eight percent increase in budget due to Facilities Maintenance and an increase in Lifeguard hours. Mike Gradone and Steve Headley put together a "To Do" list on properties that the commission is responsible for. The committee directed Mike Gradone to make monetary decisions on the scholarship for kids in recreation programs. The amount is between $50 to $100 per student application. Indoor Pickleball is set up at the Eddy School. Spring Pickleball schedule is 7 days a week from 7:00 to 10:00 am. The term of two members of the committee is up for reelection - Health Department: - Penny mentioned that the people with one dose of the COVID vaccine is closer to 450. A new number is available for people to call to request the second vaccine shot. - The COA has posted an article in the March Newsletter indicating who to call with questions regarding vaccinations/booster shots. - Vision Committee: The survey is going really well. Informational Pop Ups are a problem due to winds. Paper survey forms are out but returns are not as high as expected. - The writing phase will begin after data analysis of surveys. - Finance Committee: - Budgets are being reviewed.
