HomeMy Public PortalAboutCouncil on Aging Board -- 2022-04-21 MinutesMinutes of Brewster Council on Aging Advisory Board Meeting April 21, 2022 Present: Denise Rego, Director, Co-chairs Andrea Nevins and Sharon Tennstedt, Cindy Bingham (SB Liaison), Steve Holmes, Jay Greene, Honey Pivirotto (Fin Com Liaison), Laura Usher, Penny Holeman Absent: Janet Stolzer Meeting called to order and Governors' Orders read by Sharon Tennstedt at 1:00 pm Documents and exhibits: Minutes of March 17, 2022, Meeting Agenda, Directors' Report, Action Plan Implementation FY22, Brewster Health and Wellness Fair presenters Minutes of March 17, 2022 were unanimously approved. DIRECTORS' REPORT: - See Report Six people are now participating in Beautify Brewster A Hydration Station is installed in the main room of the COA Eight applications have been received for the Program Coordinators position candidates are currently being interviewed Health and Wellness Fair - It will be billed as the Town of Brewster Health and Wellness Fair There will be twenty on participating organizations including the Town Departments Plans a}re to have screening for Blood Pressure, Cholesterol and Glucose The Community Room at the Brewster Baptist Church will be the site of the programs Proeram Reports - All Activities are still on A banner proclaiming Volunteers Week will be put up at the COA - Plans are to have a Volunteers Luncheon at the COA on May 25tH - Communal Dining will resume next month on Tuesday and Thursdays at the COA Denise is looking into the possibility of having a Lobster Luncheon on one of these days Three Committee Reports - Board of Health: ' - Penny mentioned that the Board of Health hada discussion on the number of homes that were being added on to and the impact that it has on Septic Systems They also discussed their participation at the Brewster Health and Wellness Fair - Housing: Laura stated that housing needs in Brewster are dire. With house values under $800,000, low-income housing is unavailable. - Recreation Committee: The Lighthouse Charter group appeared to request a weekly block of tennis court time through the summer. Since there are few courts, the petition was denied as it would impact the players from the town. - The Sea Camp lawn will be prepared for Silver Screen outdoor movie nights A "Touch a Truck" event is being prepared for Brewster Children Program staffing is on target for this summers' programs ` The April 30th Brewster in Bloom Race was discussed - Vision Committee: Review of all the input data has been done. The results will be posted on each ofthe 8 building blocks and will be available next week. - A written comprehensive plan will be ready for the fall Town Meeting. - New Business: - Andrea noted that there is to be a "Forever Young" concert in New Bedford on June 5th Denise will see if there is interest and if transportation can be provided.
