The Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond, Indiana
met in regular session at the office of the said Board, Thursday,
April 11, 1918 at 9 :00 o' clock A.M. All of the members of the
• said. Board being present , Messrs . Johnson , Taylor and Peitz.
The following proceedings were had. to-wit :-
The minutes of previous meeting read and were approved.
The Board unanimously adopted improvement resolution 550-1918
for the improvement of North A street by making a cement side-
walk. five feet wide from North 18th to 19th on both sides of
street.
Mr. J.H. Bode appeared before the Board and asked them to recon-
sider their action in regard to charging rent to the Lierman
Fire Insurance Company and Richmond Maennerchor, stating they
would be willing to pay for fuel and light . Mr. Bode also stated
that .they would change the name of German Fire Insurance Company.
Mr. Peitz moved that the Board reconsider their -revi. ous action
and make final report at next regular meeting , seconded by Mr.
Taylor'; so ordered.
Mr. Johnson brought up the sue stion in regard to using Crushed
Stone claiming gravel would give better satisfaction. The Board
ordered. that North C street from 7th to 10th and 16th to 22d be
• treated and repaired with gravel .

- • Mr. Davis stated that the City should have a drag: After some
discussion Mr. Peltz moved that the City Engineer look after buy-
' ing a drag, seconded by Mr. Taylor so ordered.
• Mr. Gorman appeared before the Board and stated that the Pdice
Board wanted to meet the Board of Works in order to discuss the
matter of -protection from weather to traffic officer at 8th and
Main. The Board advised Mr. Gorman they would meet the Police
` Board, Thursday night , April llth, at 7 :30P.M.
- Dr. Hunte stated that he had condemned alley between South 2d and
3d street fair sanitary conditions. The Board ordered. Dr.Hunt
• " to make a report to the Board so they could take this matter up
• with Council.
The Board. ordered Dr.Hunt and Bldg. Inspector to take the neces-
• • sary steps to condemn -. properties between North 10th and llth
street on South side of F, street .
Mr. Davis stated that there should be something done to have the
GasOompany add. Water Works Company repair trenches wruich they have
made in the streets before city starts repair work. Mr. _Peitz
• moved that The City Engineer dictate letter to Clerk to notify
these companies,, seconded by Lr.. Taylor , so ordered.

The Board ordered Dr. Hunt to look over the situation at
North 12th and E street and notify the Weldex Company to
Clean up around their place of business.
The Board ordered the City Engineer and Street Commissioner
to repair the hbles and ruts in the cement. streets of the •

city.

Monday , April 15 , 1918 •
The Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond , Indiana
met in regular session at the office of the said Board , Mon-
day, April 15th, at 9 :00 o' clock A.M. All of the members of
said Board being present , Messrs. Johnson, Taylor and Peitz . ,
The following proceedings were had to-wit : -
The minutes Of previ ous meeting read and were approved. .
The Clerk read a letter from A. H. Rodefeld , Jr. in regard
to dumping ashes on hillside back of his property at 27 N.
West 1st Streets stating that he did this because the Clean-
ing Department would not haul his ashes away. Mr. Johnson -
moved that the Street Commissioner be instructed to look after _
ashes and rubbish in this Iodation, seconded by Mr. Peitz ,
so ordered.
The Clerk read a letter from the Board of Health in regard
to condemning alley between South 2d and 3d Street. The
Board took no acti on on this natter .
Pursuant to notice given to' the inhabitants of the City of
Richmond, Indiana ,, The board meets to hear remonstrances , if
• any, against .the grant and contract presented by the Hackman
Klehfoth & Company, a corporation of said city, its successors .
or assigns, signed by Fred Hackman, rresi.dent and Conrad S.
Heet , Secretary, filed with the Board of Public Works on the
28th day of March , 1918 , for permission to build construct
and maintain a railroad switch for its use in conducting and
operating its business in said Cit J.
