All of the members of said Board being present , Messrs . Johnson , • Taylor and Peitz . Tile following proceedings were had to-wit : The minutes of previous meeting read and were approved. The Clerk presented a petition of Omar 4:rigRans and Walter Meyers for Garden Space on north loth Street between North "J" street and the river there the road is not T.de-. Mr . Johnson moved that this be referred to the 'ity tngi veer and if this space is unoccupied , Mr. Wiggans and Mr. Meyers be permitted to use this space for garden, seconded by Mr. Peltz , so ordered . The Clerk main presented the letter from the Municipal League of Indiana . The Board referred this to be read to Council. The Clerk read a letter from the _dati ons.l Surety Company, stating that they had cancelled Bond no. 784, 065 of M. 4 i Henley for Gasoline Dispenser at 1207 Main Street . It was moved by Mr. Peitz that this be referred to the City Attorney to have Mr. Bethard , now occupying this building to furnish bond and contract , seconded b r Mr. Taylor , so ordered. The Ulerk presented a proposal for removing ashes and rubbish fro::: the - ost Office.. Mr. Johnson moved that this be re - ferred to the City Engineer, seconded by Mr. i''eltz , so ordered. • Thursday,March 14,1918 0 A Petition was presented by the cle r for the improvement of North West Seventhstreet from National Bead to Peacock road, also cement curb and gutter. .=r. Pelt moved that this take the usual course and be referred to the City Engineer for flans and Specifications, seconded by Mr. Taylor , so ordered.. Mr. Dillon brought up the matter of selling some old equip- ment at the Old Light Plant of about p1O0.00 . Mr. Feltz moved that Mr. -Dillon be left to dispose of this old equip- ment , seconded by Lir. Taylor , so ordered. Mr. Mitcholl appeared before the Board in regard to water backi _:g up in cellars on ,South West .a street and stated that there was no drain tile on this street. The Board decided to go over and investigate this and then refer same to the • City .Engineer. _ Dr. Hunt appeared before the Board and asked in regard to the repairs at the Detention Hospital. Mr. Dillon was or- dered to take contractors to the Hospital and get estimates on wiring. Mr. Peitz moved that a cement walk two feet wide be made from the driveway to the first building and a cement walk, eighteen inches wide from the first building to the second building,- and the board walk from the second building to the last building be repaired , seconded by ,ir. Taylor, • so ordered. Mr. Feltz reported the bad conditi on of the cellar grates at the \Vestcott Hotel , stating that the supports under these grates were rotted out and that it is very dangerous to persons walking over these and after some discussion Mr. Johnson moved that the building inspector be instructed to - ;_et in touch with Mr. Brown, the owner of the building and. make an investigation at '`lr. Brown' s expense and have this • repaired .at once, seconded by Mr. !'eltz , so ordered . The Board ordered the Clerk to write the Teeter-Hartley Motor Co . Hagerstown, Indiana in regard to Cannon Stoves , and re- fer the information received to the Board at the next meeting . Mr. Davenport appeared before the Board for informati on in re- gard to Oiling Streets. The . Board inst:cu cted Mr. Davenport to get a petition and present to the Board and they would do whatever they co uld . Mr. Davis brought up the question of purchasing oil for Oiling City Street: for the season of 1918 . Mr. reltz moved that 'the Clerk advertise for bids for Oil for Oiling City Streets during the season of 1918 , seconded by Mr. Taylor , so ordered. _ The Board granted Finley Leavel permission to use lot on West Side of C .& 0. Track on Newman' s hill . for Garden space providing no -one else had been givers this permission. 1 34 Thursday , March 14, 1918 Mr. Lavis brought up the matter uf• buying tools for the General Utility Man. After some discus- sion the Board referred this matter back to Davis. Mr .
