Dr. Hunt informed Mrs. Shinn that whenever he had five cr
more patients at the Detention Hospital at any one time that
he would furrish a nurse but if he had less than five -patients
for her: to go ahead and do as she had been doing , only for her
io be more specific in itemizing her bills .
Mrs. Shinn alto asked the Board to have the Valks fixed and
Electric LiFnts pint in. The Board informed -her that they would
loot this matter up as to what was needed and would have it at -
tended to. Mr . Feltz moved that the Surt . of light Plant be
instructed to wire the Detention Hospital Buildings for lights ,
seconded by Mr. Taylor, so ordered.

Monday , March 4, 1918
The Board of Public works of the City of Richmond , Indiana
met in regular session at the office of the said Board, Mon-
day, March 4th, 1918 at 9 :00 o ' clock A.M. All the members of
the said Board being present , Messrs . Johnson, Taylor and
Feltz . The following proceedings were had to-wit : -
The minutes of previous meeting read and on motion of Mr.
Feltz were approved.
The Cler]; read a letter from the Indiana Inspection Bureau in
I/ regard to recommendations for rating for i nsutanc e on City
Property. The Board ordered this placed on file .
The Clerk read a letter from Bur. A. J. Harwood withdrawing
petition for sidewalk on the North side of South "3" Street
from tract 511 , Official Map to South 21st street . Upon this
withdrawal of Mr. narwood the Board rescinded previous action
taken on Improvement Resolution no . 546-1918 .
Mr. Feltz brought up the matter of repairing i+orth "C" Street
and suggested Oiling same this summer . There was no action
taken on this matter .

Mr . Miller presented several applications for fireman.
After looking ov er these appli cati ons, Mr . Feltz moved that _ .
the application of Fred laic=Finney be accepted as an_ extra
Fireiran, seconded by Mr. Taylor , so ordered.
Mr. Miller brought up the matter of transferring men from
• one department to another so as to see if they would rrale
good. The Board left this matter ur? to Mr. . Miller.
Mr . Miller broug: t up the matter of buying Automobile Tires •
for the different departments of the city. The Board agreed
to take this matter up wi th Tire Dealers of the city and
find out the best price at which tires can be bought and to
buy accordingly, as needed. •
The Board met to hear all persons interested in or whose
property is affected by the conttructi on Of Cement roadway
in the Alley between north 15th are. 16th street from north
"A" Street to north "B" Street under improvement resolution
no . 544-1918 . - No ore appearing or remonstrating the Board
decided that the benefits to property liable to be assessed
for said Improvement are equal to the cost of same as re -
ported by the City Civil .ngi neer thereupon taken fi nal action
on said resolution, same being confirmed without modification
and ordered the Clerk to advertise for Bids .
Mr. Dillon reported that he needed more truck room in t1-e
unloading of coal at the Ilight Plant. i,=r. J_ohnson recom-
mended that the City Engineer, the Board and Dillon meet
with the superintendent of the C . & u. iiailroad to see what
could be done in the way of furnishing_. more switches 'of coal
per day.
Mr . Johnson stated that the Board and uit.y -lttorney had in-
spected the C . & U. Bridge over ride Avenue and that they
had left this matter for the City Attorney to take up with
the i ailrriad Attorney.
The Board decided to have the, City Engineer and the Street
Commissioner -to go with them and make a general inspection
of the streets over the City to see w'nat is needed in the way •
of repairs, etc.
Lir. Miller stated that he could buy four stoves fiui Teeter
TroU,.,.at =Hagerstown, Indiana. Mr. Johnson recommended that •
the Board take a trip -tc 1-ia2erstown to look after these
stoves.-
The Board then adjourned. •
