HomeMy Public PortalAbout02-25-1918 Office of the Board of Public forks 1 City of iichmond, Indiana Monday, February 25 , 1918 The Board of Public Works of the City of Richm5nd, Indiana met in regular session at the office of the said Board, Mon- day, February 25th , 1918 , at 9 :00 o' clock,A.M. All of the mem- bers of said Board being present, 1:=essrs. Johnson, Taylor and Feltz . The following proceedings were had to-wit : - 11 The Minutes of previous meeting read and on motion of Mr. Feltz were approved. The quotation on Fibre from the Joseph Lay Co . , Ridgeville , Indian. was again taken up from previous meeting and it was moved by Mr. Feltz and seconded by Mr. Taylor that Mr. John-- son find out which is the best film and order same accord- . ingly, so ordered . The matter of overhauling the Street Flusher was again brcugrt up and Mr . Davis reported that he had price of 4ii150.00 for hauling the Flusher up to the factory by Motor Truck. It was suggested by 1t-r . Johnson that the Studebaker Company be writ- ten to find cut the time required to overhaul the Flusher. This matter was left open until DIrther advice is received . Mr. Davis brought up the matter of the extension of fire Limits. • After some discussion this matter was left open for inv esti aa.- . tion by the Board and Davis. The Board reviewed Grocery Bills held over from last meeting. These bills were for groceries furnished people quarantined. It was move by .-r . Feltz that these bills , amounting to w217 .01 be allowed and ordered paid , seconded by -,r. Taylor , so ordered . • Mayor W. W. Zimmerman presented to the Board the Cause number 16 , 205 term Time Summons of Wayne Circuit Court notifying the City of Richmond to appear in the Circuit Court of Wayne County, Indiana before the judge thereof on the 5th day.. of March, 1918 to ans-.er the complaint of Clement V. Carr on ac- count of. labor perfor,::ed demanding 112.50. The Board referred this matter to the City Attorney. Mr. Davis brought up the matter. of buying a new Street Oiler stating that he had a quotation of 935.00 for a complete Oiler that would heat and put oil under treasure. He also stated that the tank could be b-ug_ht without running gear and I/ put on an old hose wagon but that the hose wagons were all too light for this use and would only cost a little less than a complete Oiler. After some discussion by the Board it was moved by —r. Feltz that the Clerk adverti se for Bids on New improved Pressure Oiler , seconded by Mr. Taylor , so ordered . • The Board ordered the east end of Glen Park, east of the ravilicn to be closed until it dries out . Mr . Johnson stated he would see the Park Superintendent , Mr. hollarn. Mr. Taylor brought up the matter of furnishing Cinders on the walk at north 19th and G. street. This matter was referred 0 . Monday, February, 25 ,1918 • to the Street Commissioner. ', Mr. Johnson sug-.ested that the Mayor invite Councilmen at the next meeting to go down and inspect the light . rlant to see what They have and what is need6d in the way of repairs . Mr. Bradbury appeared before the Board i.n regard po insurance on the Light Plant . The Board agreed to consider. -and look up rates and get re-inspection before taking any action -on this matter . All of • he members of said Board Being present , Messrs . Johnson, Taylor and Feltz . The following proceedings were had to-wit : The minutes of previous meeting read and an motion . of Mr. Peitz were approved . The Board granted Mr . Mills, Bondsman of the Contractor of r_, of P . Temlole ad permit to dump good dirt at the west end and south of the Doran Bridge . Mr . J. V . Rethmeyer , 355 Richmond ,Avenue appeared before the Board and asked permission to use a space of thirty-five ( 35 ) feet wide and two hundred ( 200 ) feet long on Chettnut Street west of West 5th Street for a Garden. On motion the Board granted permission to Mr. Rethmeyer and Mr. .verett Baseltine to make a garden in this location, -providing they keep the roadway open. • The Clerk read a letter from the Indiana Inspection Bureau asking for a list of City Property so as to enable them to rate the property for insurance. After some discussion the Clerk was ordered to send a list of all city prorerties to the Indian. Inspection Bureau .
