City of iiiichmond , Indiana .
Monday February 18 , 1918
The Board of Public idorks of. the city of rdchmond, Indiana,
met in regular session at the office of the said Board , Mon-
day February 18 , 1918 , at 9 :00 o' clock A.M. All of the mem-
bers of said Board being present , Messrs. Johnson, Taylor and
Peitz . The following proceedings were had to-wit :
The minutes of the previous meeting read and on motion of Mr .
Taylor were approvad.
The Cilerk read a letter from Sam Jaffe asking for a permit to
place scales on North 3d Street , just off main street . On
motion by Mr. Feltz , Mr. Jaffe was granted permit to put in
scales on north 3d Street , to be thirty five feet from main street .
The Clerk was instructed to refer Mr. Jaffe' s contract and bond
to the City :Attorrney.
The Board received two invoices for coal from the Bays-Logan
Coal Lio. It was moved by Mr . Peitz that the coal should not
be raid for until received , seconded by Mr . Taylor, so ordered.
The dlerk read a letter from the Morton iieality Co . in regards
to permitting the City te open a dump on their property east
of the 12th street road and between the river and t}e old tail
race , a distance of one hundred fifty (150 ) feet back from the
street . Same was reported to Street commissioner.
Mr. Sittloh reported the condition of the property located at
22d and South B Street saying the conditions were very bad
en account of keeping swine. Same was referred to the police
Department to be ordered cleaned.
The k-it y Clerk was ordered to notify the manager of the bus-
iness located at 1134 Main Street to appear and file bond and
contract for air line servi ce.
The Board received bids for lumber used in construction of
greenhouses at Glen Park. From ,tichmond Lumber Co. were
%436 .80 and Miller Kemper Co . 477 .00. Mr. Johnson moved
that the Building Inspector be instructed to notify Miller--
Kemper Co . that their bid was accepted, so ordered.
On motion by Mr. Feltz , and seconded by Mr. Taylor, these re-
pair� were ordered to be paid for out of nark Fund.
Mr. Hollarn stated that he had had men looking over the old
boiler and reported that same was in very bad condition. Mr.
Hollarn suggested that this old boiler be sold. It wns moved
by Mr. Taylor and seconded by Mr. reltz that the president of
the Board and the park Superintendent take charge and use their
discretion as to the sale of this boiler .

Monday, February 18 , 1918
Mr. Johnson reported that the 41ass for Greenhouses had been
ordered from the Jones Hdwe . Co. Same was ordered to be
paid for out of the 'ark Zund .
Mr. Peltz moved that Mr . Lillon notify property owners to
keep light bulbs in alleys in good condition, seconded by
Mr. Taylor, so ordered.
The Board ordered a rote of thanks to be sent to the Josebh
Hill r'loral Uo . , William Ludley Foulke , and all citizens
for offering to replace flowers lost in the recent fire at
Glen .dark_.
Mr. Davis reported that the Utility Companies had not in the
past lived up to ordinance in regards to back-filling trench-
es .
Mr. Davis submitted an ordinance in regards to the Utility
Companies filling trenches. On motion by Mr. Peitz the city
Engineer was instructed to present same to council .
Mr. Peltz brought up the question as to the hauling of
ashes from stores , theatres , etc . The Clerk was instructed
tc look up the ordinance on this matter and presentit at
the next meeting .
Mr . Taylor made complaint of the bad c onditi c n cf alley back
of Garages between llth and 12th streets. This matter was
left open for investigation.
The Board then adjourned.
