DEMENT, W. SHARP, D. GULLICKSEN. L. KELLY AND D. LEWTN WERE ABSENT. OTHERS PRESENT: M. PUSINELLI - ADMINISTRATOR V. KRNAC - VILLAGE CLERK J. HARVEY - ATTORNEY P. WALDOCK - PLANNER D. BENNETT - POLICE CHIEF At 6:35 p.rn. Mayor Latta opened the meeting with the pledge to the f lag . Roll call was taken, L. Ke11y and D. Lewin were absent. J. Gaylord moved to approve the New/Old Business Secta.on of the Agenda, with additions - induction of a Boy Scout; appointment of new Police Officers; Executive Session for personnel, not to reconvene. Seconded by J. Dement. Voice vote. 4 yes, 0 no. Motion carried. W. Sharp moved to approve the Consent Agenda which included letters to solicit from Salvation Arrny, American Diabetes Association, March of Dirnes and Easter Seals Society, all approved. Seconded by J. Dement. Voice vote, 4 yes, 0 no. Motion carried. J. Dement introduced Boy Scout Matt DeGroot who is working on his Citizenship In The Cornrnunity Badge. He is from Pack #82 and we are glad to have hirn with us tonight. W. Sharp moved to appoint Robert A. Plutz as Police Officer for the Village of Plainfield at a salary of $20,400.00 @ $9.81 per hour, effective January 25, 1991. Seconded by D. Gullicksen. Voice vote. 4 yes, 0 no. Motion carried. Kevin Standbridge, Wi11 County Land Use Department spoke in reference to a draft (dated 10/29/90) of the solid waste ,intergovernmental agreement. Will County Board is working on finding a land and that would be the only land fill in the County. It would handle the solid waste in Will County. • PLAINFIELD VILLAGE BOARD OF TRUSTEES JANUARY 14, 1991 PAGE TWO Planner Waldock reported Roppolo Development, Inc. has sent us a letter requesting ,permission for placement of an off-site directional sign for Spring Hill Estates. The developers have reached a lease agreement with Lakewood Living Center to locate a 6' x 3' directional sign on the corner of Route 126 and Eastern Avenue. The Board had no problem with the request providing it did not become a traffic problem (block view of motorists) and that it would be temporary, limited to one (1) year. W. Sharp moved to approve the placement of the sign far Spring Hill Estates/Roppolo Development, Inc. subject to the irnplernentation of the Village Planner, and a tune limit not to exceed one (1) year from placement. Seconded by D. Gullicksen. Voice vote. 4 yes, 0 no. Motion carried. Engineer Howard Hamilton spoke in reference to Wastewater Treatment Plant Drain Purnp. There axe two (2) pumps at this station. Tn the past few months, they (pumps) both broke down. One has been repaired but it doesn't sound too good. This is an emergency so we need to replace the pumps. We have received costs: Hydrouire, Inc. $13,500.00 -~ 2 pumps; Naa1 Plumbing & Heating - $16,000 - Installation; Total -- $29,500.00. It will take about 1 1/2 months to complete. Mr. Hamilton will contact these contractors reference to the cost and get back to the Board with actual prices. Engineer Howard Hamilton spoke in reference to the drainage on Maple Court. The catch basin no longer functa~ons. We purpose to increase the size of the catch basin with a four foot (4') diameter open bottom manhole and replacement of forty (40) linear feet of the with ten inches (10") perforated drain pipe will help alleviate the problem. The cost is estimated at $2,600.00. The Board had no problem and authorized the Administrator to see that the job is completed and the landscaping will be done by Village staff. W. Sharp moved to make the Executive Session minutes available to the public for the period of June 4, 1990 through and including December 17, 1990. Seconded by J, Gaylord. Voice vote. 4 yes, 0 no. Motion carried. W. Sharp moved to pay the bills for the period of January 1, 1991 through January 15, 1991. Seconded by J. Dement. Vote by roll call. Gaylord, yes; Dement, yes; Sharp, yes; Gullicksen, yes. 4 yes, 0 no. Motion carried. . J. Dement thanked Chief Bennett for seeing that the new lights have been installed in the rear parking lot. W. Sharp reported that Officer Jarnes A. Scarpetta has resigned effective January 31, 1991. He is accepting ernployrnent with the City of Joliet effective February 1, 1991. W. Sharp provided pictures of the serious accident which occurred on Route 59 under the EJ&E Railroad bridge on January 12, 1991. He would like these pictures along with the Police report and the newspaper article delivered to State Representative Edward Petka with a letter stating the serious need of getting something done with the viaduct.
