Monday June 25th,1917 .
,The Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond, Indiana,
met in regular session at the office of said Board Monday
June 25th, .1917 , at 9 o'clock A. 21.1 All the members of said
Board being present , Messrs, Bay..is., Marlatt and McMinn.
The following proce-edings were 'had , to-wit : - .•
- The Board approved a final assessment roll for the construction
of sewer in NW. 2nd Street from Chestnut Street to alley north
under Improvement Resolution No. 541-1917, and agreement filedI/
by Miller-Kemper Co, and the Richmond Lumber Co. , and directed
the same be transmitted forthwith to the Department of Finance.
The Board instructed the Clerk to notify the Richmond City
- Water Works , to install fire hydrant at South 16thb& "C" Sts ,
to cover the deficit in the North "F" Street extension of
water mains.
The Board take up and consider the bids for city printing ,
submitted on June 21st , 1917 , While the bid of the Palladium
on the 1000 circulation is the lowest , the Palladium having
a city circulation of 4397 , and The Item one of 2486. The
_ Board on_motion of Mr. Marlatt, seconded bar Mr. McMinn,
awarded the contract to The Item, on the grounds that the
limited number of improvements contemplated this year will
hardly justify the city paying 33 1/3% more for the larger
circulation based on the 1000 circulation, motion prevailed
and contract so awarded. _ -
The Board received_bids for the construction of a sewer in
the alley obe tween Ross & _'Boyer Street , from Vine .to John
Street , under Improvement Resolution No. 535-1917, as follows,
to-wit :-
" L. P. Meredith,bid;
Sewer complete $2.49- per lin-ft .
" John F. Hipskind , bid ;
Sewer. complete $2. 58 per lin-ft .
Ellis & Ricker, bid ;
Sewer complete-- $2.60 per lin-ft .
The bid of L. P. Meredith being the lowest and within the
estimate of the City Civil Engineer, the contract was on
motion awarded to said L. P. Meredith .
