City of Richmond , 'Indi ana,
Thursday April 26th , 1917 .
The Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond, Indiana,
met in regular session at the office of said-Board Thursday
April 26th, 1917 , at 9. o' clock A. M. All the members of. said
Board being present , Messrs , Bavis , Marlatt & McMinn. .
The following proceedings were had , to-wit : -
Pursuant to continuance to this date , the Board take up bids.
received for the construction of a Dam & Screen house at M.E.
8c P.P. under Improvement Resolution No. 539-1917 . All bids
received being above the Engineers estimate , on motion the
same. was postponed indefinitely. - - - -
The\ City Civil Engineer , reported the completion of contract
under Iinprovement Resolution No. 533-1917 , for extenti on of
sewer from present outlet near the end. of Carpenter' s' Mill
Race 2 to a point below the Intake of the M.E.L.& P.P. the
was accepted and ordered paid. by M.E.L.& P.P.
Mr.- Bavis , requested Mr. - Marlatt to take the chair , and he
then moved, the Street Commissioner be instructed as follows :-
1st; to use.,push brooms on streets instead of shovels in plac-
ing the di rt in- heaps after the street has been sweppe d & to
have the sweepings removed at once ; 2nd ; To flush Main Street
from 3rd to 12th , Ft-Wayne Ave , North "E" from 8th to loth St,
twi ce each week;\ 3rd; to flush N. "D" St , N. 8, S. "A" Sts, at
least once each week and to flush other paved streets as often
as possible when needed; 4th , The alley men to use brooms &
be more careful in`-gathering ashes from improved alleys and
not leave ashes etc. , laying in the alleys after having emp-
tied bins. 5th , on recommendation of Mr. Charles , to clean out
and flush the out1e - of sewer on east side of North 10th St ,
north of 10th St. bridge , so as to permit the water to flow.

The Board decides to not Oil less than one block of street
which may petiti oned for .
The Board grants permission to the Y. M. C. A. to block North
"A" street from North 8th to 10th Street , Saturday May 5th ,
1917 , including- 9th Street intersection, for 2 hours , for
- skating tournament to be held by them on above date .

The Board on moti on recommends to Common Counci 1, that an
ordinance making it unlawful for merchants to sweep paper &
other debris from store rooms Into streets` :.be passed.
