Thursday March 29th , 1917 .
The Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond , Indiana ,
met in regular• session at the office of said Board Thurs-
day Mar ch 29 th, 1917 , at 9 o' clock A. M. All the members
of said Board being present, Messrs , Bavis , Marlatt and
McMinn. The following proceedings were had , t o-a:it : -
The Board unanimously adopted Improvement Resolution No..
538-1917, for the improcement of North "D" Street , by con-
stracting a Aegient sidewalk on the north side of street ,
from North 'ZITIL Street to Ft-Wayne Avenue .
The mat ter of revenue ne eded .fo r ext ending wat er mai ns in
North -"F" Street between North 10th & 15th Street , was re-
ferred to City Attorney.
The City Civil Engineer, reported he had been advised that
the pri ce of road o i 1 will be approxi mate ly per gal.
as compared to slightly less than 5I last year ; He recom •

mended. that the pri ce for oiling streets be 'fixed at ;
3V per. square yard for one coat ; 411 per s q-yrd for two
coats . this to include the spreading of sand over the surface
to ab sorb the surplus oil , and ro 1 ling of same wh i ch should

be done on all streets. apprx.. 8¢' ft. per side. _
Messrs , Cates, Gayle , Hiatt, Elmer & Jordan , representing
the various banking institutions of the •ci ty, appeared be-
fore the Board , requesting that they as the Board of Safety
purchase. Riot Guns or Rifles, for use of police force in
cases of emergency, the Board fix this P. M. as a. date •to •
meet .wi th the above -representatives and the Metropolitan
Police Commissioners. and Mayor to take this matter up for •
definite -action.
The Clerk was directed to request the Miller-Kemper Co. ,
to submit plans of septic tank at property south of Main
Street and east of South aid street , as promised by them
some time ago. • - •
