Monday Mar ch 19th , 1917 .
. The Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond , Indiana, met
in regular session at the office of said Board Monday March 19th ,
1917 , at 9. o' clock A. M: All the members of said Board being
pre sent , Messrs , Bav is , Marla tt and McMinn. The following pro -
- ceedings were had , to-wit : -

The Board appointed. Ross Manning, extra fireman at No. 5 Hose house
. C . Clark resigned .
A petition was presented , for improvement of alley between South 9th
and 10th St , by constructing cement roadway from South "F" to "G"
• Street,, and the Board unanimously adopted Improvement Resolution
No. 536-1917, for, improvement of above alley as stated.
• A petition was presented, for the improvement of North "B" Street,
by constructing a cement curb , gutter. & sidewalk on both sides of
North TTB" Street , from North 7th to 18th Street , The City Civil
Engineer presented Improvement Resolution No: 537-1917 , for the
improvement of North "B" Street , by constructing cement curb , gut-
ter & sidewalks on both sides of street , from North 7th to 18th
Street, except where same is already constructed. & in good condit-
ion. the Board unanimously adopted said resolution.
Mr. Jesse Druly was granted to cut into South "A" Street at 13th
Street , to tap sewer.
The Clerk was directed to advertise for bids for painting North
10th Street Bridge , city to furnish paint .
Earlham College , makes proposition that if City will furnish pipe
to extend. Sewer in '`open ditch around sewer disposal plant , that the
College will furnish all labor and lay the pipe. The Board accepts
the proposal.
The Board received bids for the constructi on of cement curb & gatt
ter on both sides of South 20th Street , from Main to South • "A" St ,
under Improvement Resolution No. 532-1917 , as follows to-wit : -

Straight curb & gutter $0. 68zc' per linear foot
Circle _ curb & gutter 0.85 ' " If
"Schneider Bros , bid ;
Straight & Circle curb & gutter 00. 72 per linear foot

" The bid. of Daniel G. Burkhardt , being the lowest &i;wi thin the
estimate of the City Civil Engineer, contract was so awarded.
Ian o Thomas , a re si dent property owner abutting North "F" Street
improvement , appeared before the Board , stating that he had been
approached by representative of Asphalt paving company, offering
him 075 .00 to si gn and get signatures to petition to have said
street paved th Asphalt .
The Board then adjourned ,
