COUNCIL MEETING
A Regular Meeting of the Mayor and Council of the Borough of
Carteret was called to order by Mayor Daniel J. Reiman at 6:00 P.M.,
Thursday February 22, 2018, Council Chambers, Memorial Municipal
Building, 61 Cooke Avenue, Carteret, New Jersey.
Upon Individual Roll Call the following were noted present:

Noted absent was Robert J, Bergen, Law Director.
The meeting was opened with a moment of silent prayer and the
Pledge of Allegiance led by Councilmember Randy Krum.

The Clerk stated that the 2018 Annual Notice was mailed to The Home STATEMENT OF MEETING
News Tribune, The Star Ledger and posted on the Bulletin Board on NOTICE
December 28, 2017. Notice was published in The Home News Tribune
and The Star Ledger on January 5, 2018.
Upon MMS &C by Councilmembers Diaz and Bellino and unanimous
affirmative vote of the full Council present, the minutes of February 8,
2018 were approved as transcribed and engrossed by the Clerk.

CONT.
The clerk stated that Ordinance #18 -3 was introduced and adopted
on First Reading on February 8, 2018. It was duly published in The
Star Ledger on February 14, 2018 with notice that it will be
considered for final passage after Public Hearing to be held on
February 22, 2018 at approximately 6:00 p.m. The Ordinance was
posted on the bulletin board and copies were made available to the
general public and according to law, she read the Ordinance by title.
Upon MMS &C, by Councilmember Diaz and Krum and Unanimous
OPEN To PUBLIC affirmative vote of the full Council present, Mayor Reiman declared
the Public Hearing open.
KEVIN URBAN Kevin Urban asked exactly what they will be doing.
MAYOR REIMAN Mayor Reiman said this is road repair and new construction.
PUBLIC HEARING There being no further comments or objections to the Ordinance,
CLOSED Mayor Reiman declared the Public Hearing to be closed, Upon
MMS &C, by Councilmembers Diaz and Krum and Unanimous
Affirmative vote of the full Council- present.

was finally adopted. Upon individual roll call vote Councilmembers
Bellino, Diaz, DiMascio, Johal, Krum and Naples voted in the
affirmative.

Upon MMS &C by Councilmembers Diaz and Bellino, all bills appearing PAYMENT OF BILLS
on the prepared list, properly audited and signed, were ordered to be
paid. Upon Individual Roll Call Vote Councilmembers Bellino, Diaz,
DiMascio, Johal, Krum and Naples voted in the Affirmative.
All reports were suspended due to CTI Graduation Ceremony
Carteret Technical Institute (CTI) Graduation-
Joseph Norris introduced Mayor Reiman
Mayor Reiman said he had visited the class periodically and spoke
with Mr. Mevs and Mr. Norris with regard to the progress of the class.
He said he was proud of all the students that participated in the
program. He said CTI is going to continue to grow in Carteret, we
want to expand it to other professional services through our Library
and through our Business Partnership to allow our people of Carteret
who are unemployed or underemployed to gain better employment
skills. He said our graduates have the opportunity to go back into the

field of communications and technology or to enter the field now
with a certificate. He said those entering this field can make
$60,000.00 - $100,000.00. He said this is the Inaugural Class and
everyone is proud of your accomplishments, we are going to continue
to grow and improve the Carteret Technical Institute (CTI) and
improve the educational offerings that we as a community make
available to our adult population in town.
LAURENT MEVS Laurent Mevs said everyone did a wonderful job and they are all on
the way to becoming techs.
JOSEPH NORRIS Joseph Norris presented an award to Laurent Mevs and Mayor Daniel
J. Reiman. The students honored their Program Administrator Joseph
Norris for his hard work.

opportunity to be in the program.
MAYOR REIMAN
Mayor Reiman said the CTI Program is provided at no cost. He said
the mentors were incredible. He said there is a demand for skilled
labor and this program will benefit our community and others, then
he thanked everyone.
