The Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session at the office of said Board Thursday • March 1st , 1917 , at 9 o' clock A. M. All the members of said Board being pre sent , Messrs , Bavis , Mar la t t and McMinn. • The following proceedings were had , to-wit A petition was presented, for the construction of sewer in the alley between Ross & Boyer Street from Vine to within 50 ft . of John Street , together with an agreement signed by A. L. Ellis , Benj . F. Harris & W. B. Dye , all the interested property owners waiving all right of hearing & remonstrance , and ask that the Board advertise for bids , referred to City Civil Engineer, for plans etc. , The Board re ce i ve d re que st si gne d by J.C. Trump et-al , asking that 10 ft . be vacated off of south side of Glen Ave , and the alley in rear of lots 15 & 16 P. V.'7ashburns, add. be widened, the Board takes same under advisement , for investigation. The Board received a remonstrance signed by 19 resident property owners , al ong the improvement of North "D" Street from-North 10th to 16th Street , by constructing cement curb & gutters, under Improvement Resolution No. 551.-1917 . This being a ma j on ty • of the resident property owners , the Board on moti on of Mr. McMinn, rescind the resolution. The Board approved a primary assessment roll , under Improvement Resoluti on No. 511-1916, for the construction of Ornamental lights & Posts on Main St -, from 3rd to 12th St , North 7th St , from Main to North "A" St , 8th St , South "A" to North "A" St. and south side of North "A" Street, from North 8th to 9th St. The Board received communication from The Starr Piano Company, offering vacant land. , owned by the company at the corner of South 2nd & "B" Streets , for play-grounds. The Board directed the Clerk to acknowledge receipt of letter, under the dictation of Mr. Bavis , President. of Board . The Board ordered 4- 6 x 10 & 1 - 10 x 15 flags , from Adam H. Bartel Co., The Board received bids for construction of sewer in alley be- tween South 5th & 6th St , from "C" to "D" Street , under Improve - ment Resolution No. 529 -1917 , as follows to-wit : - TT John F. Hipskind , bid.: Sewer complete $298 per linear foot . The bids being above the estimate , the contract was not awarded The Board received bids for one complete street sweeper, with sprinkler attachment , all tools and blank cylinder drum. Studebaker C or . of Am. bid , delivered for the sum of 0405.00. Contract so awarded. The Board granted an extensi on of 60 days time to J.F.Hipskind , for sewer under Resoluti on No. 521-1916 .
