A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD ALLOWING
FOR THE WAIVER OF FEES FOR THE USE OF BATEMAN HALL BY THE
CALIFORNIA AIR RESOURCES BOARD FOR A "DIESEL TRUCK REGULATIONS"
COURSE
WHEREAS, The California Air Resources Board has a long history of adopting
regulations to reduce pollutant and greenhouse gas emissions; and
WHEREAS, in 1998, California identified diesel exhaust particulate matter (PM)
as a toxic air contaminant based on its potential to cause cancer, premature death, and
other health problems; and
WHEREAS, those most vulnerable are children whose lungs are still developing
and the elderly who may have other serious health problems; and
WHEREAS, a number of regulations are now in effect that requires diesel engine
owners to take steps to reduce their engine emissions; and
WHEREAS, the regulations are a part of the state's plan to meet federal ambient
air quality standards and to protect public health; and
WHEREAS, the California Air Resources Board is conducting training classes
and holding other events to educate truck owners, operators, and heavy duty diesel
vehicle and equipment sellers about California's regulations'that affect them; and
WHEREAS, the events and training classes will provide information about Truck
and Bus Regulation Applicability, Engine Model Year Schedule, Exemptions,
Extensions, and Credits, Economic Hardship Extension, How to Report for Regulation
Flexib'ilities, Broker and Dispatcher Requirements, and Regulatory Changes.
WHEREAS, the California Air Resources Board believes that this information is
vital for truckers in the Lynwood area, and that the information would be beneficial to
truckers as well as City employees.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD DOES
HEREBY RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The City Council of the City of Lynwood hereby finds that the
important public purposes described in the above recitals are served in waiving the fees
for the use of Bateman Hall for the California Air Resources Board in the amount of
$375.
Section 2. Any cost associated with the City of Lynwood's support of said
event is approved as a waiver of fees only.
Section 3. This Resolution is effective immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED, APPROVED and ADOPTED this 2rd day of September, 2014.
