RESOLUTION NO. 23-174
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
OPA-LOCKA, AUTHORIZING "THE 3RD ANNUAL NIGHT OF
THANKSGIVING" EVENT, TO BE SPONSORED BY
COMMISSIONER SHERELEAN BASS; FURTHER AUTHORIZING
RELATED EXPENDITURES IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED
ONE THOUSAND, FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($1,500.00);
PROVIDING FOR INCORPORATION OF RECITALS; PROVIDING
FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Commission hosts several events within the City of Opa-
Locka ("City") to assist in increasing the quality of life for residents and visitors; and
WHEREAS, the tradition of hosting the annual "Night of Thanksgiving" was
established two years ago and continues to offer enjoyment to all attendees through
food, fellowship, and various entertainment, including a gospel concert; and
WHEREAS, this event shall be sponsored by Commissioner Dr. Sherelean Bass;
and
WHEREAS, the event sponsor is authorized to take all steps necessary for the
planning of the event, including authorization of expenditures from the sponsor's
Discretionary Special Events budget for an amount not to exceed One Thousand, Five
Hundred Dollars ($1,500.00); and
WHEREAS, the City Commission has determined that it is the best interest of
the City and its residents to authorize "The 3rd Annual Night of Thanksgiving" Event,
to be sponsored by Commissioner Bass, as well as related expenditures, in an amount
not to exceed One Thousand, Five Hundred Dollars ($1,500.00).
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF OPA LOCKA, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1. RECITALS ADOPTED.
The recitals to the preamble herein are incorporated by reference.
SECTION 2. AUTHORIZATION
The City Commission of the City of Opa-Locka hereby authorizes "The 3rd Annual
Night of Thanksgiving" Event to be sponsored by Commissioner Bass; further
authorizing related expenditures, in an amount not to exceed One Thousand, Five
Hundred Dollars ($1,500.00).

SECTION 3. SCRIVENER'S ERRORS.
Sections of this Resolution may be renumbered or re -lettered and corrections of
typographical errors, which do not affect the intent of this Resolution may be
authorized by the Interim City Manager, following review by the City Attorney,
without need of public hearing, by filing a corrected copy of same with the City
Clerk.
SECTION 4. EFFECTIVE DATE
This Resolution shall take effect upon the adoption and is subject to the approval
of the Governor or Governor's Designee.

Staff Summary:

Financial Impact - This event will be charged to the $5,000 Discretionary Special Events for Commissioner
Bass in Account 72-572403.
