HomeMy Public PortalAbout03-19-2014 PROCEEDINGS OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS FOR RICHMOND POWER & LIGHT MARCH 19, 2014 The Board of Directors for Richmond Power& Light Plant met in regular session at 7 p.m. March 19, 2014 in the Council Chambers of the Municipal Building in said City. Chairperson Winget presided. ROLL CALL: Present were: Howard "Jack" Elstro, Kelley Cruse-Nicholson, Bruce Wissel, Don Winget, Larry Parker, Misty Hollis, Ron Oler and Phil Quinn. Absent was Clay Miller. Among those present were: James French, General Manager; Kenyatta Cox, Assistant City Attorney; Karen Chasteen, City Clerk; David Stidham; Amy Holthouse, Chamber of Commerce; Valerie Shafer, Wayne County Economic Development; Debbie Berry, Wayne County Clerk; Pat Welch; Mike Elstro, Gus Duke, Brent Wolfe, Susan Alexander, Richmond Power and Light; Russell Davis; Jeff Jeffers, J.M. Hutton; Nick Wilson; Jeff Raatz; Harold Simpson; Jeff Cooke, Reid Hospital; Raj Rao, President and CEO of the Indiana Municipal Power Agency; Jack Alvey, Sr. Vice President of Generation for the Indiana Municipal Power Agency; Media and Sergeant-at-Arms. DISCUSSION RE THE INDIANA MUNICIPAL POWER AGENCY/RICHMOND POWER AND LIGHT AGREEMENT This meeting was a public forum to discuss the.needs and benefits of transferring the operation, employees and cost of Richmond Power and Lights generation (Whitewater Valley Generating Station)to the Indiana Municipal Power Agenda. IMPA would invest$10-15 million to allow the Station to meet new, more stringent environmental regulations. Jeff Jeffers, J.M. Hutton; Nick Wilson; Harold Simpson; Russell Davis; David Stidham and Jeff Cooke, Reid Hospital asked questions of the Board. If an agreement is reached between RP&L and IMPA, the Richmond generation plan will operate during extremely warm and cold months when the cost of electricity rises. Outside counsel has been hired for the due diligence and negotiations. It is hoped the negotiations will be complete by May 16, 2014 and signed by June 1, 2014.
