village Administrator Van Vooren reported that LISPS Engineers
estimated the cost for the construction of 1,300 linear foot
section of Van Dyke Road at $385,000, higher than the Village
estimate of $343,000. Accordingly, the Post Office is now willing
to build the road if the Village would agree to contribute $100,000
towards the road and an agreement could be reached wherein the LISPS
and the Village would be able to recapture it's contribution. The
LISPS will finance the entire project and bill the Village for it's
share when the construction is complete. If bids come in lower
than anticipated, the Village's contribution could be less than
$100,000, but not mare. As the Village's portion of the cast is
recaptured, it could be then used for streetscape improvements.
The Board had discussions regarding the new post office and how it
would open up a 20 acre commercial area for future development, an
agreement between LISPS and the Vi~.lage far the recapture of
contribution to the road.
J. Dement moved to rescind its previous decision to a contribution
of up to $100,000 toward streetscaping. Seconded by K. Stalzer.
