HomeMy Public PortalAboutResolution No. 23-173 - Explore Financing Options for the replacement of AC Chiller Systems Currently Servicing City HallSponsored by Interim City Manager RESOLUTION NO. 23-173 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF OPA- LOCKA, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE INTERIM CITY MANAGER TO EXPLORE FINANCING OPTIONS FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF THE AIR CONDITIONER CHILLER SYSTEM CURRENTLY SERVICING CITY HALL; PROVIDING FOR INCORPORATION OF RECITALS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE WHEREAS, the air conditioner chiller system that services City Hall has not been functioning properly for an extended period of time; and WHEREAS, in the absence of a reliable air conditioning system in South Florida, there is a possibility that City operations could be halted; and WHEREAS, the estimated cost for installation and replacement of the City's current air conditioner chiller system is Two Million Five Dollars (2,000,000.00); and WHEREAS, the Interim City Manager desires to explore financing options to replace the current air conditioner chiller system to ensure that the Municipal Complex can continue to service residents without disruption; and WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the City to authorize the Interim City Manager to explore financing options for the replacement of the air conditioner chiller system currently servicing City Hall. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF OPA- LOCKA, FLORIDA: SECTION 1. RECITALS. The recitals to the preamble herein are incorporated by reference. SECTION 2. AUTHORIZATION OF INTERIM CITY MANAGER. The City Commission of the City of Opa-Locka, Florida hereby authorizes the Interim City Manager to explore financing options for the replacement of the air conditioner chiller system currently servicing City Hall for an amount of up to Two Million Dollars ($2,000,000.00). SECTION 3. EFFECTIVE DATE. This Resolution shall take effect upon the adoption and is subject to the approval of the Governor or Governor's Designee. Without an efficient and reliable air conditioning system, daily City operations may be hindered. The estimated cost for this project is $1.5 million, which requires various steps to secure funding with a financial institution.
