Council was held to -day and was attended by Mayor Gamble and Councilmen Horovitz, Cann,Espy,Farr 'Town Attorney McIntyre and A.P.Solomon, jr. The Mayor called to the attention of Councdl present condition of the finances of the Town,the anticipated expenditures for the next three imonthe will amount to about $ 2400.00,t to outstanding indebt- ednesgnee.aiBA $ 1650.00 of which approximately $ 400.00 is collect- able,t...ereby making it necessary to borrow money; ir.Horovitz made a .motion that the Mayor be empowered to borrow $ 2000.00 to take care of this expected deficit and Mr.Espy seconded same and the motion was passed. In the matter of the indebtedness due by "The Breakers" for electric service furnished them last eilmmer,the Clerk of Council informed Council that it a difficult matter to arrive at a difinite under- standing with Mr McNamara,the Manager of The Breakers,as to just wven payment could be expected,Mr Horofitz said he waou ld see Mr. J .F. -> 'Bri en and try and have him handle the matter, Mr McIntyre called attention to the fact that there is no Ordinance toprotectthe Tcwn for eletric service turn:ished consumers on the island . Contract to put the jail in first class condition was awared to the Tybee Contracting Co. for the sum of $ 697.52 on motion of Mr Espy to empower the mayor have this work done, giving the Tybee Contracting Co the Towns note payable June 15th 1927, at interest not exceeding 8per cent,when the work is completed,seconded by Mr Horovitz and passed. The Mayor informed Council that he was again in conference with Mr H.C.Foss of the S.1;.& P.Co.,relative to their extending their lines to Tybee, rind that suggestion was made him that if the property owners of Tybee would underwrite $ 20, 000.00 to take care of part of the expense of extending the lines to the island until such time as bonds co ;rering this amount could be issued,he believed the S.E.&.P.Co., would be interested - - the Mayor said that he would call a meeting of property owners just as quickly as possible and put the matter before them. The water reports coming out of Atlanta issued by the State Board of He&ith show Tybee as not giving any cooperation in the matter of having monthly inspections made of the watbr supply, so it was decided to have Dr Bassett the County Health Officer look after this. The Town Attorney was requested to draft an Ordinance covering rates,chs;gesiimethods of collections,ect.,relative to the electric service furnished consumers on the Island. It was decided to ask the Chatham County legislators to have the Towns Charter amended,at the next meeting of State legislature,so that The Mayor and Councilmen can appoint a Recorder to take care the Courts and also to establish a drainage dis .rict.
