HomeMy Public PortalAbout07-05-2005 PROCEEDINGS OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, SERVING AS A BOARD IN CHARGE OF THE OPERATION OF THE RICHMOND POWER & LIGHT PLANT TUESDAY, JULY 5, 2005 The Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana, serving as a Board in charge of the operations of the Richmond Power & Light Plant met in regular session at 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 5, 2005 in the Council Chambers in the Municipal Building in said City. Chairperson Welch presided. ROLL CALL: Present were: Howard "Jack" Elstro, Etta Lundy, Bruce Wissel, Karl Sharp, Bing Welch, Larry Parker,Al Glover, Diana Pappin and Gil Klose. - APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Board member Sharp moved to approve the minutes of the meetings held June 20 and 27, 2005. Board member Sharp seconded. The motion carried with a unanimous voice vote. APPROVAL OF BILLS, INVESTMENTS AND TRANSFERS: Upon recommendation of the Finance Committee, Board member Pappin moved to approve the following bills for payment with a second by Board member Klose. The motion carried with a voice vote. Bills Already Paid: Payroll and Deductions 286,847.14 Transfers from Cash Operating to: Miscellaneous Prepaid Invoices 121,000.52 Telecom. Div. Misc. Pre Paid Invoices: 75,839.87 Total Prepaid Invoices: 483,687.53 Total EFT/Direct Deposit of Payroll: (98,961.76) Total Prepaid Invoices: 384,725.77 Total EFT Transfers: 1,845,471.85 Total Prepaids plus EFT Transfers: 2,230,197.62 Total Bills Not Paid: 872,758.12 Grand Total: $3,102,955.74 STREET LIGHT COMMITTEE: None REPORT BY GENERAL MANAGER: 1. Due to the fact the cost of coal is increasing rapidly, Mr. Osburn discussed the possibility of entering into a five-year purchase contract to stabilize the expense for RP&L. 2. RP&L currently has approximately 350 allowances for use in 2005. This is more than was necessary in 2004. 3. The July 25 trip to IMPA for dinner and discussion has been postponed until August 22. 4. There was substantial damage sustained during a major storm on June 30. Crews are still working at clearing lines, replacing poles and restoring power.
