He explained that it will be a backup to the Johnson Street station and there are • 21 four primary feeders coming from there. He added that the network system was a"cadillac"system in 1930 but it 22 is too expensive to maintain in this day and age.Councilmember McBride moved to authorize Huffman to receive 23 bids on the substation, second by Councilmember Hutton and the motion was carried on a unanimous voice vote. 24 25 Huffman said RP & L set some new records this past week. On Thursday,July 13,from 2 to 3 p.m.the kilowatt 26 hours sold were 153.7 net and 160.2 gross. He said the old record was set on January 19, 1994 and that was 27 149.08 net and 156.2 gross. The new record set for a 24-hour period was on Friday,July 14, 1995,when RP&L 28 sold 3,053,820 kilowatt hours, breaking the old record set on January 19, 1994 of 3,044,320. 29 30 Huffman said there has been a lot of conversation about retail wheeling, adding that RP &L's rates are 31 competitive and the utility does not fear retail wheeling. He said there may be some special pricing but it will only 32 be for a certain period of time. RP & L, he said, has a plant that is paid for and a very efficient operation with 155 33 employees since 1970.And, he said, in the interim time the utility has had to go to computer operations and other 34 areas that require a lot of technical help. 35 36 Chairperson Elstro reported that the auction was held at RP&L Saturday,July 15, 1995,adding that the post 37 digger did not sell even though the bidding got to$50,000. 38 39 Councilmember Allen asked when Council will get a detailed report from the APPA meeting in Seattle,Wash. 40 Councilmember Donat said she will give the report and Chairperson Elstro said perhaps that could be heard 41 Monday night at the meeting at RP&L. 42 43 Councilmember Allen asked Chairperson Elstro if he had thought any more about a policy regarding RP& L's 44 personnel records and he responded that nothing had been done on that yet.
