ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 45 SECTION 8B OF THE
BOROUGH CODE OF THE BOROUGH OF CARTERET.
WHEREAS, recent changes to New Jersey law have expanded the role of purchasing
agents by increasing their authority to award contracts; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council of the Borough of Carteret (the "Borough") wish to
take advantage of those changes to effectuate a smoother more streamlined purchasing
process; and
WHEREAS, in order to accomplish said goal it is necessary to revise the bid opening
procedure.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Mayor and Council of the Borough
- Carteret that the current section of the Cartemt Code Designated 45-8B. is hereby deleted
in its entirety and replaced with the following:
"B. Bid Opening Procedure. Sealed bids shall be presented to the Purchasing
Agent or Borough Clerk of the Borough of Cartemt, and shall be identified as bids on the
exterior envelope. Bids shall be opened in public by the Purchasing Agent or Borough
Clerk at the time and place stated in the public notice by the Mayor and Council."
