REPORT BY GENERAL MANAGER

Mr.Huffman announced that Unit 1 would be on line by Saturday with the repair work completed. He said the
repairs had passed the testing and all were pleased with the progress.

Mr. Huffman told the Board that the total cost of repairs were estimated to be around 300,000.00 but with the
involvement of EPRI and other consultants it was determined the crack was caused by the repair company and
there would be no cost to RP&L except for the repair of another minor crack. He said RP&L would have to bear
the contingent liability costs such as downtime of the unit.
•
Mr. Huffman stressed to the Board that such instances were why it were necessary to keep the depreciation
reserve fund at a high level.

Mr. Huffman stated that Saturday's storm had caused some problems, but no transformers had failed. He said
RP&L did suffer some minor damage at the plant.

Chairman Elstro asked Mr. Huffman to meet with Police Chief Rice regarding radio contact for the Police since
they had a difficult time reaching RP&L during the storms when RP&L's phones went out.

Mr. Huffman said there was no problem providing the Police Department one of their radios for communications.

Councilmember Brookbank thanked Mr. Huffman for assistance by RP&L for a problem at Reid Hospital.
