RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PLANNING GRANT APPLICATION
WHEREAS, the State of New Jersey has established a $3,000,000 grant program
known as the "Smart Growth Planning Grants" program to assist municipalities in
funding planning initiatives that will achieve more livable and sustainable
communities; and
WHEREAS, the Borough of Carteret is currently considering several projects
which will require professional planning and which the Borough believes meets
the Smart Growth Planning Grants program criteria; and
WHEREAS, the Borough believes it is in the best interest of the community to
make application for the grants.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Council of the
Borough of Carteret that the Director of Community Development be directed to
make application to the Smart Growth Planning Grants program for grant funds in
connection with the lower Roosevelt Avenue Business District Study, Waterfront
Park Project, a redevelopment plan for a reclaimed landfill and a redevelopment
and urban renewal plan.
BE IT FURTHER RESOVLED that the Municipal Clerk and the Director of
Economic Development and/or the Mayor be and are hereby authorized to
execute the grant application on behalf of the Borough.

and certified as a true copy of the original
on November 5, 1999.
