HomeMy Public PortalAbout12-20-1976 PROCEEDINGS OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDI:ANA, SERVING AS A COMMITTEE IN CHARGE OF THE OPERATION OF THE RICHMOND POWER & LIGHT PLANT, DECEMBER 20, 1976 1 The Conmon Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana, serving as a 2 committee in charge of the Richmond Power & Light, met in regular 3 session December 20, 1976 at the hour of 7:00 p.m. in the Municipal 4 Building of said City. Mr. Ahaus presided with the following members 5 present: Messrs. Austerman, Carter, Elstro, Merchanthouse, Mills, 6 Paust and Williams . Absent: Cornett. The following business was had, 7 to-wit: 8 9 Mr. Williams moved to approve the minutes of the previous meeting, 10 seconded by Mr. Mills and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 11 12 Mr. Williams moved to approve the following bills , interest coupons , 13 payroll and transfers , seconded by Mr. Mills and on unanimous voice vote 14 the motion was carried. 15 16 APPROVE THE FOLLOWING: 17 Bills in the amount of $422,276.35 18 Interest Coupons None. 19 1 Payroll 79,604.30 20 21 TRANSFERS FROM THE CASH OPERATING FUND TO: 22 Depreciation Reserve Fund $ 91 ,000.00 23 Cash Reserve Fund 60,000.00 24 Utility Bond Fund 68,937.47 25 26 Mr. Ahaus announced there will be an executive meeting Wednesday, 27 December 29 at 7:00 to discuss future power contract negotiations. 28 29 General Manager Irving Huffman stated that the proposed budget for the 30 year 1977 was presented a few weeks ago and a meeting has been held 31 to review the budget. Mr. Huffman feels that the 1977 budget is 111 32 much nicer in appearance than the 1976 budget. The budget is very 33 realistic and very optimistic. The optimism, however, can be met, 34 especially in the capital expenditures area. Approval of this budget 35 does not mean that that item will be bought. Any major item will 36 come to this Board for approval at a later date. 37 38 Mr. Mills moved to approve the budget as submitted, seconded by Mr. 39 Paust and on a call of the roll the following was recorded: Ayes: 40 Ahaus, Austerman, Elstro, Merchanthouse, Mills, Paust and Williams . 41 Noes: Carter. The vote being seven (7) to one (1 ) in favor of the 42 motion. 43 44 Mr. Mills moved to give the approximate 143 employees a Christmas 45 gift of $25.00, seconded by Mr. Paust and on a call of the roll the 46 following was recorded: Ayes: Ahaus, Austerman, Carter, Merchanthouse, 47 Mills , Paust and Williams . Noes: Elstro. The vote being seven (7) 48 to one (1 ) in favor of the motion . 49 50 Mr. Carter gave comments concerning the amount of dividend paid the 51 civil city and then moved RP&L increase this dividend from seven 52 hundred twenty thousand ($720,000) to one million five hundred thousand 53 ($1 ,500.000).
