HomeMy Public PortalAbout12-06-1976 PROCEEDINGS OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, SERVING AS A COMMITTEE IN CHARGE OF THE OPERATION OF THE RICHMOND POWER & LIGHT PLANT, DECEMBER 6 , 1976 1 The Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana, serving as a 2 committee in charge of the Richmond Power & Light Plant, met in regular 3 session December 6, 1976 at the hour of 7:00 p.m. in the Municipal 4 Building of said City. Mr. Ahaus presided with the following members 5 present: Messrs. Austerman, Carter, Cornett, Elstro, Merchanthouse, 6 Mills , Paust and Williams . Absent: None. The following business was 7 had, to-wit: 8 9 Mr. Williams moved to approve the minutes of the previous meeting, 10 seconded by Mr. Mills and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 11 12 Mr. Williams moved to approve the following bills, interest coupons, 13 payroll and investments purchased, seconded by Mr. Mills and on unanimous 14 voice vote the motion was carried: 15 16 APPROVE THE FOLLOWING: 1.7 Bills in the amount of $ 615,550 .55 - 18 Interest coupons 1 ,047.50 19 1 Payroll 75,956.80 20 21 INVESTMENTS PURCHASED 22 Cash Operating Fund $ 400,000.00 23 24 C.D. 's yielding 6%, maturing 1 year 25 26 Mr. Ahaus announced an executive session will be held Monday, December 27 13 at 7:00 p.m. at RP&L. 28 29 Mr. Irving Huffman, General Manager, reported that the news media has 30 been doing a very excellent job in reporting some of the growths 31 experienced this last week. The growth pattern is starting to go in 32 and upward trend and is following predicted curve of growth to date. In 33 1973 the past high point in sales was experienced for a 1/2 hour, 1 hour 34 or even 24 hour period. RP&L is now in .a very definite growth picture. 35 New demands were set this past week and before this year is over 36 sizeable growth will probably be noticed. Costs increase and must be 37 spread over periods where growth is not experienced. 38 39 Mr. Huffman, also, reported he attended a workshop put on by the Electric 40 Power Reasearch Institute, which was formed by all the nation`s 41 electric utilities in 1973. They are designed to sponsor research and 42 development in the electric power production, transmission , distribution 43 and utilization . RP&L has not made direct payments to this group and 44 should take a look at it and consider making some; however, we have been . 45 making indirect payments through kilowatt hours purchased. Payments 46 have, also, been made through RP&L dues to the American Public Power 47 Association. Therefore, RP&L would not have to make full amount donations 48 as far as kilowatt hours sold. 49 50 Mr. Carter moved to reject the fuel clause rate increase, seconded by Mr. 51 Cornett. 52 53 Mr. Ahaus instructed the Manager to draw a draft of the effects of this 54 motion. 55 56 Mr. Paust moved to table the::motion, seconded by Mr. Williams .
