HomeMy Public PortalAbout11-01-1976 PROCEEDINGS OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, SERVING AS A COMMITTEE IN CHARGE OF THE OPERATION OF THE RICHMOND POWER & LIGHT PLANT, NOVEMBER 1, 1976 1 The Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana, serving as a committee 2 in charge of the Richmond Power & Light Plant, met in regular session 3 November 1, 1976, at the hour of 7:00 p.m. in the Municipal Building of 4 said City. Mr. Ahaus presided with the following members present: Messrs. 5 Austerman, Carter, Cornett, Elstro, Merchanthouse, NEills, Paust and Williams. 6 Absent: None. The following business was had, to-wit: 7 8 Mr. Williams moved to approve the minutes of the previous meeting, seconded 9 by Mr. Mills and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 10 11 Mr. Cornett moved approval of the following bills and investments purchased, 12 seconded by Mr. Carter and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried: 13 14 APPROVE THE FOLLOWING: 15 Bills in the amount of $ 234,612.67 16 Interest Coupons 5,195.00 17 Payroll 78,171.64 18 19 INVESTMENTS PURCHASED: 20 * Cash Reserve Fund $ 60,000.00 21 * Depreciation Reserve Fund 91,000.00 22 ** Utility Bond Fund 68,937.48 23 24 * C.D. 's Maturing 10/26/77, yielding 6% 25 ** C.D. 's Maturing 12/30/76, yielding 5% 26 27 Mr. Ahaus announced there will be an executive session meeting on Monday, 28 November 8 at 7:00 p.m. at RP&L. 29 30 Mr. Elstro replied to Mr. Mills question about petitions for street lights 31 on S.W. 9th to S.W. llth and N.W. 17th & N.W. 18th in the alley that there 32 would be a report on these requests within two (2) weeks. 33 34 Mr. Williams requested a light be installed on a pole already located in 35 back of Lewis Liquor Store at No. 12th and "J". Mr. Elstro stated that the 36 Street Light Committee will take a look at it. 37 38 Mr. Huffman, General Manager, stated that since most of RP&L employees are 39 experienced technicians, technical training is required for many of the 40 employees. Certain training accomplishments are required for advancement 41 and classification. RP&L has found an area they have been missing in 42 customer contact area, especially in the area of handling customer complaints. 43 The American Public Power Association put on a course recently and used 44 D. J. Vernine & Associates, which four (4) managers attended. Each of these 45 felt very strongly the program should be made available to RP&L employees 46 who have customer contact. The cost for this would be $1200. for a two (2) 47 day program for up to twenty four (24) participants. RP&L will try to 48 schedule this program for March 30 & 31, 1977. 49 50 Electric Power Research Institute plans to conduct a workshop on research 51 and development requirements of small electric utilities. Mr. Huffman has 52 been chosen as one of thirty to participate in a seminar in Denver in 53 December.
