HomeMy Public PortalAbout10-04-1976 PROCEEDINGS OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RI:CHMOND, INDIANA, SERVING AS A COMMITTEE IN CHARGE OF THE OPERATION OF THE RICHMOND POWER & LIGHT PLANT, OCTOBER 4, 1976 1 The Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana, serving as a committee 2 in charge of the Richmond Power & Light Plant, met in regular session 3 October 4, 1976, at the hour of 7: 00 P.M. in the Municipal Building of said 4 City. Mr. Ahaus presided with the following members present: Messrs. 5 Austerman, Carter, Cornett, Elstro, Merchanthouse, Mills, Paust and Williams. 6 Absent: None. The following business was had, to-wit: III 7 8 Mr. Williams moved to approve the minutes of the previous meeting, seconded g by Mr. Mills and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 10 11 Mr. Austerman moved to approve the following bills and investments purchased., 12 seconded by Mr. Elstro and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried: 13 14 APPROVE THE FOLLOWING 15 Bills in the amount of $372,506.71 16 Interest Coupons 1 ,737.50 17 Payroll $ 74,744.12 18 19 INVESTMENTS PURCHASED 20 * Depreciation Reserve Fund $415,065.84 21 * Consumers Deposit Fund 5,472.56 22 ** Cash Reserve Fund 60,000.00 23 ** Utility Bond Fund . 68,937.48 24 25 * C.D. 's Maturing in 1 year, yielding 6% 26 ** C.D. 's Maturing 12/30/76, yielding 5 1/2% 27 28 Mr. Ahaus stated that the results of the preliminary study of Ernst & Ernst 29 is ready. He appointed a policy implementation committee of Mr. Merchant- 30 house, Mr. Austerman and himself to make recommendations to Council . 31 III 32 Mr. Irving Huffman, General Manager, reported that RP&L will be needing 33 two (2) coal conveyor belts on next year's budget. The belts do not wear 34 out as much as aging from the weather even though they are under cover. 35 The rubber prices are i^•lsing as stock items are depleted. Mr. Huffman 36 has contacted four (4) different suppliers whose prices range from $9.82 37 to $9.17 per lineal foot. Conveyor No. 1 needs 446 feet and Conveyor No. 38 2 needs 724 feet for a total of 1170 feet at an approximate total cost of 39 $10,750. Mr. Huffman recommends buying at this time. 40 41 Mr. Williams moved to approve this purchase, seconded by Mr. Paust and on 42 unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 43 44 Mr. Huffman reported RP&L has purchased an electric car, which they are 45 metering as to the amount of kilowatts it takes . RP&L needs to become 46 involved in this' type transportation. 47 48 Mr. Huffman announced the scheduling for the annual inspection and maintenance 49 of Whitewater Unit #2 is the week of October 11 and, if necessary, October 50 18. This type clean up and inspection is a preventative maintenance. 51 52 Mr. Elstro noted the Street Light Committee will meet Thursday, October 14 53 at 7:30 p.m. at RP&L. 54 55 Mr. Huffman requested, if possible, RP&L would like to have an indication 56 for budget purposes what kind of street lighting program will be planned III 57 for the following year. 58 59 There being no further business on motion duly made, seconded and passed 60 the meeting was adjourned. 61 62 Rick Ahaus 63 Chairman 64 65 ATTEST: JoEllen Trimble 66 City Clerk
