HomeMy Public PortalAbout08-16-1976 PROCEEDINGS OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, SERVING AS A COMMITTEE IN CHARGE OF THE OPERATION OF THE RICHMOND POWER & LIGHT PLANT, AUGUST 16 , 1976 1 The Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana, serving as a 2 committee in charge of the Richmond Power & Light Plant, met in 3 regular session August 16, 1976, at the hour of 7:00 P.M. in the 4 Municipal Building of said City. Mr. Ahaus presided with the 5 following members present: Messrs. Austerman , Carter, Cornett, 6 Elstro, Merchanthouse, Mills, Paust and Williams. Absent: None. 7 The following business was had, to-wit: 8 9 Mr. Williams moved to approve the minutes of the previous meeting, 10 seconded by Mr. Mills and on unanimous voice vote the motion was 11 carried. 12 13 Mr. Williams moved approval of the following bills, transfers and 14 investments , seconded by Mr. Mills and on unanimous voice vote the 15 motion was carried. 16 17 APPROVE THE FOLLOWING: 18 Bills in the amount of $528,865.64 19 Interest Coupons 29,005.00 20 1 Payroll $ 73,438.39 21 22 TRANSFERS FROM CASH OPERATING FUND TO: 23 Depreciation Reserve Fund $ 91 ,000.00 24 Cash Reserve Fund 60,000.00 25 Utility Bond Fund 68,937.48 26 I27. INVESTMENTS PURCHASED 28 Cash Operating Fund $400,000.00 29 30 C.D. 's Maturing 11/4/76 (90 days) , yielding 5 1/2% 31 32 Mr. Ahaus announced the report from Ernst and Ernst is forthcoming. 33 There will ba a meeting with their representatives at RP&L at 7:00 34 P.M. on Wednesday, August 18, 1976. 35 36 Irving Huffman , General Manager, requested approval of the Employees' 37 Recreational Budget for 1976-77 which is their sports calendar year. 38 Budget consists of fielding five (5) bowling teams , a softball team 39 and money allocated for gym rental , family swims , horseshoe, golf, etc. 40 This budget totals $845.50 which is $2.50 less than last year. 41 42 Mr. Mills moved to approve this appropriation request, seconded by Mr. 43 Cornett and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 44 45 Mr. Huffman presented rate comparisons for June , July and August, 1976 46 requested by Council . Mr. Huffman , due to time and expense involved 47 and giving more of a comparison , would like to present quarterly reports 48 as opposed to 30-day reports. RP&L has been progressively coming 49 down because their fuel costs have been coming down. We are now down 50 to third position for the month of August. Utilities surrounding us 51 now have tate increases pending, which probably will not be passed I52 until after the election. The rate comparisons are based upon the 53 current fuel clause. The fuel clause that will go into effect the 1st 54 of September will raise the rate up to what it was in January.
