HomeMy Public PortalAbout08-02-1976 PROCEEDINGS OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CTTY OF RI:CHMOND, INDI-ANA, SERVING AS A COMMI:'TTEE IN CHARGE OF THE OPERATION OF THE RI'CHMOND POKER & LIGHT PLANT, AUGUST 2, 1976 1 The Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana, serving as a committee in charge 2 of the Richmond Power & Light Plant, met in regular session August 2, 1976 , at the 3 hour of 7:00 P.M. in the Municipal Building of said City. Mr. Ahaus presided with 4 the following members present: Messrs. Austerman , Carter, Cornett, Elstro, 5 Merchanthouse,Mi'lls, Paust and Williams. Absent: None. The following business was 6 had, to-wit: 7 III8 Mr. Williams moved to approve the minutes of the previous meeting, seconded by Mr. Mills 9 and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 10 11 Mr. Williams moved approval of the following bills , seconded by Mr. Mills and on unanimous 12 votce vote the motion was carried. 13 14 APPROVE THE FOLLOWING: 15 Bills is the amount of $217-,346:09" 16 Interest Coupons 72,O73 75 17 1 Payroll 75-,154.389 18 19 I'NVE:STME:NTS PURCHASED: 20 Cash Operating Fund ' 302 ,589.04 21 22 C.D. 'S Maturing 1/19/77, yielding 5 7/8% 23 24 Mr. Ahaus announced there will be an executive session on August 4 at 7:00 P.M. at 25 RP&L with the legal advisors of RP&L. There will , also, be a meeting August 10 at 26 RP&L at 7:00 PM. with Mr. Leini'nger of Ernst'.and Ernst. 27 28 General Manager I'rvi'ng Huffman stated that the service building was built in 1963 29 and we are now getting into the area where it becomes necessary to do some moderate 30 maintenance. Last year we did some necessary maintenance on our entrance driveways 31 and front parking lot. This year we need to do additional maintenance on other 32 driveways, and the rear parking and storage area. III 33 34 The City of Richmond owns a slurry sealing machine which can be used to reseal paved 35 areas;. He requested permission to have people at RP&L contact the appropriate City 36 officials to see if they could engage the services of the City on a weekend to form 37 what work their need done. They would be happy to pay the City's cost of labor, 38 materials', overhead and other charges. The weekend work should fit with the City's 39 schedules and it fits best for RP&L facilities. 40 41 There is more money in the budget, because RP&L was figuring to use other methods. 42 Usi:ng the equipment -already owned by the City wi l l be a-cost savings to RP&L. They 43 are using their own men to do some items that were in the budget. They are currently 44 rebuilding the loading dock and feel there are other items, such as enclosing one of 45 . the buildings with overhead doors which can be done with their own men at times best 46 filled by their scheduling. There is between $6,000 and $7,000 budgeted. 47 48 Mr. Paust moved Mr. Huffman's request be granted, seconded by Mr. Mills and on unanimous 49 voice vote the motion was carried. 50 51 Mr. Mills presented a petition to the Street Light Committee from residents of West 52 Richmond requesting the City install three (3) "Dusk to Dawn" or "Security" lights in 53 the alleys between Southwest Eleventh and Southwest Ninth Streets, one-half block 54 north of U.S. 40. 55 56 There being no further business on motion duly made, seconded and passed the meeting III 57 was adjourned. 58 59 Rick Ahaus 60 Chairman 61 62 ATTEST: JoEllen Trimble 63 City Clerk
