A COMMITTEE IN CHARGE OF THE OPERATION OF THE
RICHMOND POWER & LIGHT PLANT, APRIL 5, 1976
1 The Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana, serving as a
2 committee in charge of the operation of the Richmond Power & Light
3 Plant, met in regular session April 5., 1976 , at the hour of 7:00 p.m.
4 in the Municipal Building of said City. Mr. Ahaus presided with the
111 5 following members present: Messrs. Austerman , Cornett, Elstro, Merchant-.
6 house, Mills , Paust and Williams. Absent: Mr. Carter. The following
7 business was had, to-wit:

9 Mr. Williams moved to approve the minutes of the previous meeting, second-
10 ed by Mr. Mills and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried.

12 Mr. Mills moved to approve the following bills , seconded by Mr. Williams
13 and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried.

20. Chairman Ahaus reminded members of a meeting Monday, April 12, 1976 at
21 7:00 p.m. at Richmond & Light.

23 Mr. Irving Huffman , General Manager, announced that of the three (3) bids
24 and one (1 ) alternate received at the March 15th meeting for two (2) van-
25 type vehicles , Fred First Ford was the lowest and best bid. Their bid
26 being $4,039.87 less allowance for 1969 Chevy Nova of $562.00, making a
27 difference of $3,477.87 and $4 ,039.87 less allowance for 1971 Ford Van of
28 $1 ,500.00, making a difference of $2 ,539.87.

30 Mr. elliams moved approval of the purchase of two (2) vans, seconded by
31 Mr. Paust and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried.

33 Mr. Huffman received bids for one (1) new 1976 Truck Cab:':& Chassis , G.V.W.
34 27,500 Minimum.

36 Mr. Mills moved to accept and file Proof of Publication for these bids ,
37 seconded by Mr. Williams and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried.

1 Mr. Mills so moved, seconded by Mr. Williams and on unanimous voice vote
2 the motion was carried.

4 Mr. Huffman reported that effective March 21 , freight rates have increased
5 seven (7) percent. The freight increase means that the rate goes from
6 $5.33 to $5.70 per ton. Southern coals go from $8.56 to $9. 16 per ton ,
7 or about 1 .6 to 2t per million BTUs. This gives a two (2) percent increase
8 in over-all delivered fuel costs.. Greater decreases are pending which are
9 greate.r than this increase. The volume intrastate rates may have to go
10 by the wayside. Future rates of ConRail are in doubt at this time.

12 Mr. Elstro announced the Street Lighting Committee will meet Thursday,
13 April 8 at 7:30 p.m. at RP&L office.

15 There being no further business ; on motion duly made,seconded and passed,
16 the meeting was adjourned.
