HomeMy Public PortalAbout01-19-1976 PROCEEDINGS OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, SERVING AS A COMMITTEE IN CHARGE OF THE OPERATION OF THE RICHMDND POWER & LIGHT, JANUARY 19, 1976 1 The Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular 2 session January 19 , 1976 at the hour of 7:00 P.M. in the Council 3 Chambers in the Municipal Building in said City serving as a 4 committee in charge of the operation of the Richmond Power & Light 5 Plant. Mr. Ahaus presided with the following members present: III 6 Messrs. : Austerman , Carter, Cornett, Elstro, Merchanthouse, Mills, 7 Paust and Williams. Absent: None. The following business was had, ' 8 to wit: 9 10 Mr. Williams moved to approve the minutes of the previous meeting, 11 seconded by Mr. Carter and on unanimous voice vote the motion was 12 carried. 13 14 Mr. Reinke is to prepare a special ordinance authorizing the transfer 15 of $277,548,98 for payments to the City in lieu of taxes. 16 17 Mr. Paust moved to approve the following bills, seconded by Mr. 18 Merchanthouse and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried: 19 20 APPROVE THE FOLLOWING 21 Bills in the amount of $501 ,528.29 22 Interest Coupons 245,105.00 23 1 Payroll 65,970.25 24 Payment to the City of Richmond 720 ,000.00. 25 26 TRANSFERS FROM CASH OPERATING FUND TO: 27 Depreciation Reserve Fund 91 ,000.00 28 Cash Reserve Fund 45,308.98 29 Utility Bond Reserve Fund 68,341.75 ill 30 31 INVESTMENTS PURCHASED: 32 Cash Reserve Fund 306,705.67 33 Consumers' Deposit Fund l 17,000.00 34 Utility Bond Reserve Fund 394,190.91 35 Depreciation Reserve Fund 361 ,241 .29 36 37 C. D. 's Maturing in one year, yielding from 6.25 to 7% interest 38 39 Mr. Ahaus reminded committee members that there will be an orientation 40 meeting at Richmond Power & Light at 7:00 Monday, January 26. They 41 will be sent an agenda and minutes will be taken. 42 43 Mr. Irving Huffman, General Manager, stated that relay coordination 44 studies for the transmission lines, sub-station and Whitewater Valley 45 have previously been done by Indiana Michigan Electric Company. 46 Richmond Power & Light's computer is not sufficient for this lay-out. 47 I & M was contacted to do this study again; however, they do not have 48 the necessary personnel to do this work. It is necessary for RP&L to 49 have this study made so relays can be set accordingly. Mr. Huffman 50 recommended Black & Veatch be hired to do this study. Black & Veatch's 51 estimated cost is not to exceed $10,000.00. RP&L had estimated the 52 cost at $6,000.00 53 54 Mr. Mills moved this study be done, seconded by Mr. Paust and on 55 unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 56 57 Mr. Huffman presented a review of the 1975 operations of the Richmond 58 Power & Light. (A copy of which is attached to the minutes.) 59 - 60 Mr. Elstro requested a meeting of the Street Lighting Committee to be 61 held January 29, 1976 at 7:30 at RP&L.
