HomeMy Public PortalAbout01-05-1976 PROCEEDINGS OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, SERVING AS A COMMITTEE IN CHARGE OF THE OPERATION OF THE RICHMOND POWER & LIGHT PLANT, JANUARY 5, 1976 1 The Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular 2 session January 5 , 1976 at the hour of 7:00 P.M. in the Council 3 Chambers in the Municipal Building in said City serving as a committee 4 in charge of the operation of the Richmond Power& Light Plant. The 5 following members were present:: Messrs. Ahaus, Austerman , Carter, Cornett, 111 6 Elstro, Merchanthouse, Mills , Paust and Williams. Absent: None. 78 Mr. Cornett nominated Mr. Ahaus to be Chairman of the Board of Richmond 9 Power & Light, seconded by Mills. Mr. Carter moved that the nominations 10 be closed, seconded by Mr. Mills and on unanimous voice vote the motion 11 was carried. 12 13 Mr. Ahaus thanked the members and henceforth presided. 14 15 Mr. Mills moved to approve the minutes of the previous meeting, seconded 16 by Mr. Elstro and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 17 18 Mr. Merchanthouse moved to approve the following.bills , seconded by Mr. 19 Paust and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried: 20 21 22 APPROVE:_THE FOLLOWING: 23 24 Bills in the amount of $347,858.13 25 Interest Coupons. 's Maturing 12-20-76, yielding 7% Interest 35 36 Mr. Ahaus stated that the following are new committee appointments: 37 38 FINANCE COMMITTEE 39 James Carter, Chairman 40 Roger Cornett 41 Greg Merchanthouse 42 43 EMPLOYEES RELATIONS-; 44 Kenneth Paust, Chairman 45 Kenneth Mills 46 Marion Williams 47 48 STREET LIGHTING 49 Jack Elstro, Chairman 50 Kenneth Paust 51 Thomas Austerman 52 53 SPECIAL STUDY 54 Greg Merchanthouse , Chairman 55 Kenneth Mills III 56 Fredric Ahaus 57 58 Board members were reminded to put January 12 and January 26 on their 59 calendar for orientation meeting at 7:00 at Richmond Power & Light 60 Service Building. 61 62 Mr. Irving Huffman , General Manager, presented Employee's Wages and 63 Benefit Proposal with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. 64 Benefits of the contract will go to 115 union members and non—union 65 members and most management personnel , with the exclusion of the general 66 manager and members of the managing board. RP&L Minutes January 5 , 1976 Page 2 1 Mr. Cornett moved acceptance of proposal as outlined in letters by 2 Mr. Huffman , seconded by Mr. Williams, and on unanimous voice vote 3 the motion was carried. 4 5 Mr. Huffman asked acceptance to install a 2 ,000 gallon non-leaded 6 gasoline tank. Mr. Delucio was the low bidder on this tank. 7 8 Mr. Mills moved to authorize Mr. Huffman to install gasoline tank, 9 seconded by Mr. Cornett and on unanimous voice vote the motion was 10 carried. 11 12 Mr. Huffman advised the Board that Richmond Power & Light has trans- 13 ferred $720 ,000 for payments to the city in lieu of taxes. $442,451 14 is prior to June 30, 1975 and $277,548.98 after June 30, 1975.
