HomeMy Public PortalAbout06-16-1975 PROCEEDINGS OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, SERVING AS A COMMITTEE IN CHARGE OF THE OPERATION OF THE RICHMOND POWER & LIGHT PLANT, JUNE 16, 1975 1 The Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular 2 session June 16, 1975 at the hour of 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers 3 in the Municipal Building in said City serving as a committee in charge 4 of the operation of the Richmond Power & Light Plant. Mr. Brown 5 presided with the following members present: Messrs. Cornett, Elstro, 6 Geier, Hilton, Marino, Merchanthouse, Mills and Williams. Absent: 7 None. The following business was had to-wit: 8 9 Mr. Mills moved to approve the minutes of the previous meeting, seconded 10 by Mr. Williams and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 11 12 Mr. Elstro moved to approve the following bills, seconded by Mr. Williams 13 and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 14 15 APPROVE THE FOLLOWING: 16 Bills in the amount of $ 424,652.20 17 Interest Coupons None 18 1 Payroll 66,567.42 19 20 TRANSFERS FROM CASH OPERATING FUND TO: 21 Depreciation Reserve Fund $ 91 ,000.00 22 Cash Reserve Fund 60,000.00 23 Utility Bond Fund 68,983.32 . 24 25 Mr. Irving Huffman, General Manager, gave a fuel clause progress report 26 stating a request for reduction in the fuel clause might be filed with 27 the Public Service Commission in July due to the ability to buy coal 28 at lower prices in recent weeks. However, an anticipated freight rate 29 increase may offset any reduction in coal cost. 30 31 The 15 per cent rate increase is still before the PSC. Mr. Huffman 32 said accountants of a firm hired by the PSC to review records of 33 utilities seeking rate adjustments are checking here now. 34 35 "We welcome the study, which reviews our efficiency, buying habits and 36 job being done for the consumer," Mr. Huffman said. 37 38 Chairman Brown asked if we would get a copy of this report. Mr. Huff- 39 man said he would check to see if they would give us a copy. 40 41 In answer to a question from Mr. Mills, Mr. Huffman said we are not 42 selling power to the Cleveland, Ohio, municipal-owned electric utility 43 because American Electric Co. will not agree to transmission. 44 45 There being no further business on motion duly made, seconded and 46 passed, the meeting was adjourned. 47 48 49 John Brown 50 Chairman 51 52 53 ATTEST: Margaret Mellen 54 City Clerk
