HomeMy Public PortalAbout05-05-1975 PROCEEDINGS OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, SERVING AS A COMMITTEE IN CHARGE OF THE OPERATION OF THE RICHMOND POWER & LIGHT PLANT, MAY 5, 1975 1 The Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular : 2 session May 5, 1975 at the hour of 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers 3 in the Municipal Building in said City serving as a committee in charge 4 of the operation of the Richmond Power & Light Plant. Mr. Brown pre- y sided with the following members present: Messrs. Cornett, Elstro, 6 Geier, Hilton, Marino, Merchanthouse, Mills and Williams. Absent: 7 8 None. The following business was had to-wit: 9 Mr. Williams moved to approve the minutes of the previous meeting, se- 10 conded by Mr. Mills and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 11 12 Mr. Merchanthouse moved to approve the following bills, seconded by 13 Mr. Williams and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 14 15 APPROVE THE FOLLOWING: 16 Bills in the amount of $ 214,530.37 17 Interest Coupons 130.00 18 1 Payroll 66,678.69 19 20 Irving Huffman, General Manager, reported he received a letter from the 21 City of Cleveland requesting to buy power from us for the summer months. 22 The City of Cleveland also operates a municipal electric facility. We 23 are trying to work it out so they can purchase some of our power, he 24 said. 25 26 Mr. Huffman said a seven per cent increase in freight rates has now 27 become effective which is costing Richmond Power & Light between 52 to 28 55 cents more per ton to haul coal here from Kentucky mines and 32 cents 29 more from Indiana mines. This increase is reflected in the fuel clause. 30 31 Mr. Huffman requested authorization to purchase heavy cable conductor 32 wire which will be needed for moving and doing rewiring in the new 33 downtown garage area, the new proposed county office building site and 34 another project. 35 36 He said this requires a special type of conductor and will take a 37 long time to purchase. 38 39 Mr. Geier moved to authorize Mr. Huffman to advertise for bids to be 40 received May 19, for heavy cable conductor wire, seconded by Mr. Marino 41 and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 42 43 There being no further business on motion duly made, seconded and passed, 44 the meeting was adjourned. 45 46 John Brown 47 Chairman 48 49 ATTEST: Margaret Mellen 50 City Clerk
