HomeMy Public PortalAbout03-03-1975 PROCEEDINGS OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, SERVING AS A COMMITTEE IN CHARGE OF THE OPERATION OF THE RICHMOND POWER & LIGHT PLANT, MARCH 3, 1975 1 The Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular 2 session March 3, 1975 at the hour of 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers 3 in the Municipal Building in said City serving as a committee in charge 4 of the operation of the Richmond Power & Light Plant. Mr. Brown III5 presided with the following members present: Messrs. Cornett, Elstro, 6 Geier, Hilton, Marino, Merchanthouse, Mills and Williams. Absent: 7 8 None. The following business was had to-wit: 9 Mr. Mills moved to approve the minutes of the previous meeting, seconded 10 by Mr. Williams and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 11 12 Mr. Geier moved to approve the following bills, seconded by Mr. Cornett 13 and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 14 15 APPROVE THE FOLLOWING: 16 Bills in the amount of $ 190,952.07 17 Interest Coupons 1 ,462.50 18 1 Payroll 67,011 .14 19 20 Irving Huffman, General Manager, reported that Richmond Power and Light 21 placed second in a group B safety contest. He said, "our employees should 22 be congratulated for earning the service award" . 23 24 Mr. Huffman presented a news release concerning a $1 ,964,406 rate increase 25 being sought by Richmond Power and Light as the second part of a two- 26 stage increase which was petitioned from the Indiana Public Service 27 Commission last July 16, 1974. A copy of which is attached. 28 29 Mr. Huffman requested adoption of the resolution to approve the rate III30 increase in order to prepare for the March 21 , 1975 public hearing. 31 32 Mr. Merchanthouse said he would like to see the Board discuss this before 33 voting on it. 34 35 Mr. Brown, Chairman of the Board, said, "We have approved the utility 36 rate increase, the only thing we did not have before us at that time 37 was the rate schedule. 38 39 Mr. Geier suggested they defer voting on it and discuss it at the next 40 executive session and then bring it before the floor two weeks from 41 tonight. 42 43 Mr. Brown requested an executive Board meeting on Monday, March 10, 1975 44 at 7:00 p.m. at the Richmond Power and Light. 45 46 There being no further business on motion duly made, seconded and passed, 47 the meeting was adjourned. 48 49 John Brown 50 Chairman 51 52 53 ATTEST: Margaret Mellen 54 City Clerk
