HomeMy Public PortalAbout11-04-1974 PROCEEDINGS OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, SERVING AS A COMMITTEE IN CHARGE OF THE OPERATION OF THE RICHMOND POWER & LIGHT PLANT, NOVEMBER 4, 1974 1 The Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular 2 session November 4, 1974, at the hour of 7:00 P.M. in the Council 3 Chambers in the Municipal Building in said City serving as a committee 4 in charge of the operation of the Richmond Power & Light Plant. 5 Mr. Merchanthouse presided with the following members present: Messrs. 6 Brown, Cornett, Geier, Hilton, Marino, Mills and Williams. Absent. 7 Mr. Elstro. The following business was had to-wit: 8 9 Mr. Mills-- moved to approve the minutes of the previous meeting, 10 seconded by Mr. Williams and on unanimous voice vote the motion was 11 carried. 12 13 Mr. Cornett moved to approve the following bills , seconded by Mr. 14 Geier and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 15 16 APPROVE THE FOLLOWING: 17 Bills in the amount of $ 227,944.88 18 Interest Coupons 16.25 19 1 Payroll 66,863.60 20 21 Irving Huffman, General Manager, said the only intervenors in the case 22 of the requested 27.7 per cent emergency rate boost sought by Indiana 23 & Michigan Electric Co. was the local utility and Fort Wayne. The 24 Public Service Commission is holding a pre-hearing meeting with I & M 25 on November 15, 1974 on a regular increase request. 26 27 Approval of any amounts will mean higher costs to the local utility 28 and possibly later to patrons. 29 30 Mr. Huffman said the anticipated strike of coal miners could cause 31 some problems here. We will be receiving some fuel during the coal 32 strike because we have been doing business with some non-union mines, 33 but the price is getting out of hand, he said. 34 35 Bruce W. Sumner, Business Manager of Local 1395 appeared before the 36 Board stating they have heard nothing in the past few weeks. 37 38 Board Chairman, Gerg Merchanthouse, said "We have nothing new to add 39 at this time.
