HomeMy Public PortalAbout09-03-1974 PROCEEDINGS OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, SERVING AS A COMMITTEE IN CHARGE OF THE OPERATION OF THE RICHMOND POWER & LIGHT PLANT, SEPTEMBER 3, 1974 1 The Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular 2 session September 3, 1974, at the hour of 7:00 P.M. in the Council 3 Chambers in the Municipal Building in said City serving as a committee 4 in charge of the operation of the Richmond Power & Light Plant. 5 Mr. Marino presided with the following members present: Messrs. 6 Brown, Cornett, Elstro, Geier, Mills and Williams. Absent: Mr. 7 Merchanthouse and Dr. Shields. The following business was had 8 to-wit: 9 10 Mr. Mills moved to approve the minutes of the previous meeting, 11 seconded by Mr. Geier and on unanimous voice vote the motion was 12 carried. 13 14 Mr. Brown moved to approve the following bills, seconded by Mr. 15 Williams and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 16 17. APPROVE THE FOLLOWING: 18 Bills in the amount of $217,517.11 19 Interest Coupons 11 ,572.50 20 1 Payroll 68,364.94 21 22 INVESTMENTS PURCHASED 23 Depreciation Reserve Fund $1 ,250,000.00 24 Utility Bond Reserve Fund 170,000.00 25 26 C.D. 's maturing 8/18/75 27 yielding 10% interest. 28 29 Irving Huffman, General Manager, reported the petition for the 30 ten percent rate increase will be heard on September 10, 1974. 31 32 Mr. Huffman said it will be at least six months before any ruling 33 is made on the pending rate increase being asked by Indiana & 34 Michigan Electric Company which is before the Federal Power 35 Commission. 36 37 The picketing at the Richmond Power & Light Plant is an unauthorized 38 strike, Mr. Huffman said. He urged all employees who want to come 39 to work to report Wednesday at 8:00 a.m. 40 41 Mr. Williams presented a petition for street lights on Starr 42 Street and at the rear of a "T" alley at 914 North llth to be 43 presented to the Board of Works. 44 45 There being no further business on motion duly made, seconded 46 and passed, the meeting was adjourned. 47 48 Philip Marino 49 Acting Chairman 50 51 ATTEST: Margaret Mellen 52 City Clerk 53
