HomeMy Public PortalAboutP&RAC Minutes 1986 08/06PARK & RECREATION ADVISORY COMMITTEE August 6, 1986 SUBJECT: Pending Bond Election - "Priority Items" Proposers Order of Devel.opment- 1.) Develop path/walkway/ipikeway separate from street system. Construct class I corridor, asphalt surfaced, from Lick Creek Road to Stibnite Street. Coordinate a minimum amount of natural plantings and landscaping. Include a side spur route that goes from right of way to Davis Street at Fairway Park. 2) Purchase and develop land along the railroad right of way, from corner of Pine Street and Mill Road, northward (approx- imately 2-3 acres. This area should primarily serve as a parking lot for recreation users (not downtown commercial needs.)) Include space for waterfront day -users, bikeriders, walkers, special event participants, etc. Also make space available for visitor information and services --potential site for Depot Building relocation. 3) Purchase private property on lakefront between Cutty Sark and "Marina. Develop this for day use, barking, restrooms, or information services. 4) Expand parking and facilities at Fairway Park. Acquire additional adjacent property to allow for expansion. Consider (in order): A) Parcel on Davis Street (south of the Fairway Drive turnoff.) B) Parcels north of Fairway Drive, between Fairway Drive and McCall Golf Course (Fairway #9.) These parcels; would be used to accommodate expanded parking, landscaping, playground, restrooms, etc. Adopted by vote of committee. Members attending: Williamson, Chandler, Martens, Arp, Miracle, Laidlaw, and Droulard. Also staff member Cooke. Development map and drawings to be prepared by Laidlaw and Arp. *(Next meeting Tuesday, August 1.9, at Depot Building - 7 a.m.)*
