A COMMITTEE IN CHARGE OF THE OPERATION OF THE
RICHMOND POWER & LIGHT PLANT, JULY 16, 1973
The Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session
July 16, 1973, at the hour of 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers of the Muni-
cipal Building of said City serving as a committee in charge of the operation
of the Richmond Power & Light Plant. Mr. Williams presided with the following
members present: Messrs. Brown, Cornett, Geier, Marino, Merchanthouse, Mills,
Shields and Elstro. Absent: None. The following business was had to-wit:
Mr. Merchanthouse moved to approve the minutes of the previous meeting, seconded
by Mr. Mills and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried.
Mr. Cornett moved to approve. the bill , seconded by Mr. Marino and on unanimous
voice vote the motion was carried.
APPROVE THE FOLLOWING:
Bills in the amount of $ 463,949.48
Interest Coupons 189,406.25
1 Payroll 65,114.57
PROGRESSIVE PAYMENTS ON:
Plant Electrical Equipment $ 22,130.60
Electrical Construction 1 ,118.02
General Construction - Downtown Office 2,610.00
TRANSFER FROM CASH OPERATING FUND TO:
Depreciation Reserve Fund 57,000.00
Utility Bond Fund 66,533.37
Cash Reserve Fund 60,000.00
Mr. Cornett moved to accept proof of publication for Installation of a Rotary
Dustless Unloader, seconded by Mr. Merchanthouse and on unanimous voice vote
the motion was carried.
One bid was received for installation of a Rotary Dustless Unloader from Oberle-
Keller Construction Company Inc. , Richmond, Indiana, in the amount of $51 ,000.00.
Mr. Marino moved to refer the bid to Mr. Huffman for his review until the next
meeting, seconded by Mr. Mills and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried.
Mr. Cornett moved to authorize purchase of $262,984.04 in C.D's maturing Dec. 28,
1973, yielding 8% interest, seconded by Dr. Shields and on unanimous voice vote
he motion was carried.
Mr. Huffman received word today that there will be a 5% increase in rail freight
effective August 13 of this year.
The silencer and dampers will hopefully be installed by the end of July. Mr.
Huffman stated we are below pollution standards of noise level but some people
have a special problem even at this low level . If it objectionale to them, we
will put them up in a motel .
Dr. Shields said he felt the installer should stand the cost of down time due to
correcting the noise problem.
Mr. Cornett thanked Mr. Huffman for the new report received by the Board members.
There being no further business on motion duly made, seconded and passed,the
meeting was adjourned.
