HomeMy Public PortalAbout06-05-1972 PROCEEDINGS OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, SERVING AS A COMMITTEE IN CHARGE OF THE OPERATION OF THE RICHMOND POWER & LIGHT PLANT, JUNE 5, 1972 The Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session June 5, 1972, at the hour of 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers of the Municipal Building of said City, serving as a committee in charge of the operation of the Richmond Power & Light Plant. Mr. Elstro presided with the following members present: Messrs. Brown, Cornett, Marino, Merchanthouse, Mills, Shields, Stigleman, and Williams. Absent: None. The following business was had to-wit: Mr. Williams moved to approve the minutes of the previous meeting, seconded by Mr. Stigleman and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. Mr. Williams moved to pay bills and make progressive payments , seconded by Dr. Shields and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. APPROVE THE FOLLOWING: Bills in the amount of $146,088.48 Interest Coupons 331 .88 2 Payrolls 119,212.29 PROGRESSIVE PAYMENTS ON: Plant Electrical Equipment $ 26,283.60 Electrostatic Precipitators 83,848.80 Mechanical Construction 138,091 .50 Steam Generator 117,370.44 Resident Engineers 4,275.00 Control & Instrumentation Equipment 1 ,783.35 Mr. Marino called a meeting of the Wage Committee for Thursday, June 8, 1972, at 7:00 p.m. Mr. Huffman reported that Richmond Power & Light has installed a security system, based on entry switches and sound pick-up, which is being monitored from the Whitewater Valley Station, which includes a communications cable encircling the City, at a cost of $2,200.00. Mr. Huffman made the following statement: Fourteen Richmond Power & Light employees will receive Certificates for com- pleting the Electric Linemen's Course. The thirty classroom hour course has been taught over the past 25 weeks by Roy E. Kaser, Electrical Engineer for Richmond Power & Light. Those receiving Certificates are: Robert Richardson, Line Superintendent, William Kare, Line Foreman, Floyd Legear, Line Foreman, Darrel Alvey, Line Foreman, Jim Abrams, John Ingermann, Jobie Isaccs, Bill Johnson, John Johnston, Clyde Legear, Delbert Malicoat, Clayton Maxwell , Earl Peters, and Steve Sheckles. I think these men are to be congratulated. Dr. Shields moved the Board go on record congratulating the employees for their efforts in earning the certificates, seconded by Mr. Stigleman, and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. Mr. Huffman reported that there are now 89 outside people on the job at the Whitewater Valley Station. Steel for the precipitators is going up and work on the boiler is progressing well . The turban generator is on schedule and he hopes to begin testing various systems in July. The general contractor is a little slow.
