WHEREAS, the Village of Plainfield has the authority to license the operation of cable companies. WHEREAS, the continued improvement in programming is a major concern to the Village of Plainfield. WHEREAS, The Village of Plainfield, Village Board of Trustees recognizes it's committment to provide educational channels to the citizens of Plainfield. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE Village Board of Trustees of the Village of Plainfield do hereby request Continental Cablevision to maintain "The Learning Channel" as a programming option for the citizens of Plainfield. It is my understanding that the Village Board has the authority to license the operation of cable companies. ©ur current cable co~tpany, Cont~.nental Cableviaion, has announced that they will nv longer carry "The Learning Channel" as part of their programming options, "The Learning Channel".'has been one of the few educational .channels to offer alternative programming to the predvminarttly entertainment menu which is .sired an Continental cable. If you have any influence as to the choice of offerings over our cable system, we would appreciate your efforts to avoid the loss of this alternative programming. In this Resolution the village Board of Trustees of the Village of Plainfield do hereby request Continental Cablevision to maintain "The Learning Channel" as a programming option for the citizens of Plainfield. This Resolution was adopted and approved by the Village Board on December 18, 1995 and advises Continental Cablevision that we recognize a commitment to provide educational channels to the citizens of Plainfield and this is a major concern to the Village. Please advise us of your decision as to this programming change.
