HomeMy Public PortalAbout04-03-1972 PROCEEDINGS OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, SERVING AS A COMMITTEE IN CHARGE OF THE OPERATION -OF THE RICHMOND POWER & LIGHT PLANT, APRIL 3, 1972. The Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session April 3, 1972-, at the hour of 7:00 p.m. serving as a committee in charge of the operation of the Richmond Power & Light Plant, in the Council Chambers of the Municipal Building of said City. Mr. Elstro presided with the following members present: Messrs. Brown, III Cornett, Marino, Merchanthouse, Mills , Shields, Stigleman and Williams. Absent: None. The following business was had to-wit: Dr. Shields moved to approve the minutes of the previous meeting, seconded by Mr. Williams and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. Mr. Marino moved to pay bills and progressive payments on steam turbine generator, mechanical construction, steam generator and resident engineers, seconded by Mr. Mills, and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. APPROVE THE FOLLOWING: Bills in the amount of $ 311 ,308.62 Interest Coupons 75.00 1 Payroll 58,929.17 PROGRESSIVE PAYMENTS ON: Steam Turbine Generator $1 ,444,071 .20 Mechanical Construction 144,818.03 Steam Generator 283,386.60 Resident Engineers 4,275.00 Mr. Huffman reported that the generator has arrived and weighs 130 tons and explained the problems of moving it into the proper position. He reported that the piping is mostly complete and that he expects that within a month all tubes in the boiler will III be in place. He explained that the new precipitators will cut down on pollution con- siderably. Mr. Huffman presented proof of publication for bids for network transformers. City Attorney Wynegar examined the proof of publication and found it to be correct. Mr. Stigleman moved to accept the proof of publication, seconded by Mr. Marino, and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. The following bids were opened: Westinghouse Electric Supply, unit price $6,137.00, amount $12,274.00, alternate unit price $5,957.00, amount $11 ,914.00, delivery 17 weeks plus 4 weeks drawing app. ; Richmond Electric, manufacturer General Electric, unit price $6,232.00, amount $12,464.00, alternate unit price $6,030.00, amount $12,060.00, delivery 12 weeks. Mr. Marino moved the bids be referred to Mr. Huffman for study and recommendation, seconded by Mr. Stigleman, and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried.
