HomeMy Public PortalAbout03-06-1972 PROCEEDINGS OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, SERVING AS • A COMMITTEE IN CHARGE OF THE OPERATION- OF THE RICHMOND POWER & LIGHT• PLANT, MARCH 6, 1972 The Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana, serving as a committee in charge of the operation of the Richmond Power &Light Plant, met in regular session March 6, 1972, at the hour of 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers of the Municipal Building in said City. Mr. Elstro presided with the following members present: Messrs. Brown,II/ Marino, Merchanthouse, Mills, Shields, Stigleman and Williams. Absent: Mr. Cornett. The following business was had to-wit: Mr. Elstro explained that Mr. Cornett had to attend a meeting at the YMCA. Mr. Stigleman moved to approve the minutes of the previous meeting, seconded by Mr. Williams, and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. Mr. Stigleman moved to approve bills and progressive payments, seconded by Mr. Marino, and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. APPROVE THE FOLLOWING: Bills in the amount of $121 ,757.68 Interest Coupons 6,878.13 1 Payroll 58,759.95 PROGRESSIVE PAYMENTS ON: Black & Veatch Resident Engineer $ 2,563.19 Mechanical Construction 108,956.25 Mr. Huffman explained that the investments which had been approved at the last meeting had not been made because G.E. is demanding 80% payment for the turbine generator upon shipment, which was to have taken place within a few days of the authorized investments. The generator has been shipped, but the turbine has not. He recommended holding up on the investment because the shipment is due within a few days. Mr. Huffman presented proof of publication for automobile bids. City Attorney Wynegar examined the proof of publication and found it to be correct. Mr. Stigleman moved to approve the proof of publication, seconded by Mr. Marino, and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. The following bids were opened: Fred First, Inc. : Ford Torino, delivered price $2,631 .85, less allowance $50.00, total $2,581 .85, delivery 30 days; Kurdy's Chevrolet, Inc. : Chevrolet Chevelle, delivered price $3,184.50, less allowance $566.55, total $2,617.95, delivery 4 weeks; Bowens Oldsmobile; Olds F-85, delivered price $3,404.60, less allowance $505.81 , total $2,898.79, delivery 30 days; Vivian Buick: Buick Skylark, delivered price $3,087.41 , less allowance $150.00, total $2,937.41 , delivery 3-1/2 weeks. Mr. Marino moved the Board refer the bids to Mr. Huffman for study and recommendation, seconded by Mr. Stigleman, and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. Mr. Huffman reported that he, Paul Hirsch, Andrew Cecere, and Jane Wynegar attended a pre-hearing conference for the rate increase. The Public Service Commission asked for updated information regarding the test year. He was advised that testimony is to be prefiled by April 17, and to be presented May 10, 1972. A public hearing is to be held May C5, 1972. Mr. Huffman reported that work on the boiler is well under way and that tentatively testing is scheduled for September with the station being in operation by November.
