HomeMy Public PortalAbout02-07-1972 PROCEEDINGS OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, SERVING AS A COMMITTEE IN CHARGE OF THE OPERATION OF THE RICHMOND POWER & LIGHT PLANT, FEBRUARY 7, 1972 The Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session February 7, 1972, at the hour of 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers of the Municipal Building in said City. Mr. Elstro presided with the following mem- bers present: Messrs. Brown, Marino, Merchanthouse, Mills, Shields, and Williams. Absent: Messrs. Cornett and Stigleman. Mr. Elstro explained that Mr. Cornett was attending a YMCA meeting and Mr. Stigleman was in Florida III on business. The following business was had to-wit: Mr. Marino moved to approve the minutes of the previous meeting, seconded by Mr. Williams, and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. Mr. Williams moved to approve bills and progressive payments on foundation construction, mechanical construction, electrical construction and Black & Veatch resident engineers , seconded by Mr. Brown, and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. APPROVE THE FOLLOWING: Bills in the amount of $209,793.36 Interest Coupons 165,444.07 1 Payroll 60,706.04 PROGRESSIVE PAYMENTS ON: Foundation Construction $ 35,919.00 Mechanical Construction 35,900.28 Electrical Construction 1 ,080.00 Black & Veatch Resident Engineers 4,328.60 Mr. Huffman presented proof of publication for truck bids. City Attorney III Wynegar examined the proof of publication and found it to be correct. Mr. Mills moved to approve the proof of publication, seconded by Mr. Merchanthouse, and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. The following bids were opened: Fred First Ford: Item I: $4,110.00, less trade-in $550.00, total : $3,560.00, delivery, 45-60 days; Kurdy's Chevrolet: Item I: $4,515.67, less trade-in, $1 ,238.00, total : $3,267.67, delivery, 5 weeks; Item 2: $5,417.00, less trade-in, $1 ,580.13, total ; $3,836.87, delivery 7-8 weeks; Warfield GMC Trucks: Item I: $4,557.35, less trade-in, $1 ,174.06, total : $3,383.29, delivery, 45-60 days; Item 2: $5,451 .43, less trade-in, $1 ,657.46, total : $3,793.97, delivery, 45-60 days. Mr. Marino moved the Board refer the bids to Mr. Huffman for study and recommendation, seconded by Dr. Shields, and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. Mr. Huffman reported that there are now approximately 63 local employees on the job of the Whitewater Valley Station. The turban erectors are on the job; the turban and generator are on-route; the oil cooler is due in within a day; the boiler feed water pumps are erected; the condenser is being lined up; large equipment is being set into place and being lined up; Shook has moved out except for clean-up men and a GE erectiion man is here. Mr. Huffman reported that he has had notice from the Penn Central agent that coal freight is to be increased, beginning February 5, 1972, by 2-1/2%, which would amount to approximately $10,101 .86, based on last year's figures. Mr. Huffman reported that the Public Service Commission has notified him of a III pre-hearing conference which he, Mr. Cecere, and Miss Wynegar will attend, the purpose of which will be to set a hearing date for the rate increase.
