The middle school located on the north side of Lockport Street is just outside the Plainfield School District 202 boundaries.
The District has a contract to purchase the 40-acre site, which is located about one mile west of Weber Road.

SCHOOL SITE LOCATXON PLAN
PURPOSE STATEMENT:
Plainfield Consolidated School District in conjunction with the Village of Plainfield, City of
Joliet and the Village of Bolingbrook have endeavored to establish a school site location plan.
The purpose of this plan is to identify realistic sites for future placement of school facilities.
As a Consolidated School District, this will include facilities for High Schools, Middle Schools,
and Elementary Schools. This plan does not directly address mote specialized educational
facilities the school district may one day provide. It is however important, even vital, that
school sites are identified as early as possible to properly accommodate anticipated growth.
Therefore, this document has identified specific tracts on which proposed school sites should be
located. The district is experiencing a significant growth rate at the present time, and school
site planning must be adequate to accomplish the task of meeting the facility needs of the district
as population increases. In a general sense, the district has attempted to located an elementary
school for each square mile of residential development. Middle Schools are established at a rate
of one for every three elementary schools. High schools are needed at a rate of one per three
Middle Schools. This document is intended to implement this basic standard for providing the
correct number of needed schools. Specific locations were deemed necessary in order to
adequately communicate school district needs to local land owners and members of the
development community. This document will assist in setting aside the proper amount of
acreage necessary to develop schools and meet the educational needs of the school district to
accomodate full residential development within district boundaries.

ri for each
Plainfield Consolidated School District 2p2 has identified locational cute a
level of school. In general SD2p2 expects one elementary school per square mile of ~~~///
residential development. The populations of three elementary schools are merged for
each middle school 1 per p square miles). Three middle schools are combined for each
high Schaal (1 per 9 square miles). ,
Using the desired, school populations noted above and the Land Use Plans of
Bolingbrook, Joliet, and Plainfield, the staffs from the three communities met to identify
approximate locations far the needed schools. It was decided to seek sites from the
larger landowners and to limit the take from each landowner to one site unless their
holdings were widely separated. Smaller landowners would be mare likely to be harmed
by the acreage set-asides needed for school sites, affecting the salability of their land.
It would be unfair to take all the land needed from a few landowners--spread the pain, so
to speak. Sites needed to be near major roads but oat front the major roads.
The sites were then mapped to.assure proper spacing and checked against the
Plat Book to confirm 'ownership. Proximity to major roads was verified. The map was
adjusted as necessary to. meet the selection criteria.' .: _
The result is the map of anticipated.schaal location sites.
