Home My Public Portal About017-2023 - Interdepartmental transfers ORDINANCE NO. 17-2023 AN APPROPRIATION ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO.34-2022 KNOWN AS THE 2023 SALARY ORDINANCE WHEREAS, Indiana Code 36-4-7-3 requires the Mayor to fix the compensation of each appointive officer,deputy and other employee of the city departments,except police officers and firefighters,prior to November 1st for the ensuing buc,get year subject to the approval of Common Council;and WHEREAS, Said statute allows the City Clerk to fix the compensation of the deputies and employees of the Clerk's office prior to November 1st for the ensuing budget year subject to the approval of Common Council;and WHEREAS, The compensation fixed herein may not be increased during the budget year for which it is fixed but may be reduced by:he Mayor for each appointive officer,deputy and other employee of the city departments set forth herein or by the City Clerk for employees of the Clerk's office;except by amendment approved by Common Council;and WHEREAS, Common Council has previously adopted Ordinance 34-2022 to establish salaries for the year 2023 and not,/finds it necessary to amend the salaries within the Mayor's Office,the Finance Department,and the Department of Infrastructure and Development.
