HomeMy Public PortalAbout04-06-1970 11/1 MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND , INDIANA, SERVING AS A COMMITTEE IN CHARGE OF THE OPERATION OF THE RICHMOND POWER & LIGHT PLANT, APRIL 6, 1970 T-he .Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana, serving as a committee in charge of the operation of the Richmond Power & Light PLant, met in -regular session in the Council Chambers in the Municipal Bldg. , in said City, April 6, 1970, at the hour of 7: 00 o'clock p.m. Councilman F. Marino presiding, with the following members present: Messrs . Elstro, Geier , ,Henn, Hilligoss, P . Marino., Paust and Stigleman. Absent: Blackwood, The follow- ing business was had to-wit: Mr . Henn moved that the minutes of the previous meeting be .�..) amended as follows: "Maintenance current from Indiana-,Michigano��`` v might not be available at a later date", should be added to Mr . Am'"t`' - Beck ' s report of why the Whitewater Valley Station has been shut -� i��P down earlier than originally planned . Mr . Henn moved the minutes 0, ��j be approved as amended, seconded by Mr . Hilligoss and on unani - I�1u mous voice vote the motion was carried . Mr . Geier moved to approve the following: , seconded by Mr . P.. Marino and on unanimous votce vote the motion was carried. - Approve the following: Bills in the amount of $ 202 , 941 .06 Interest Coupons 162 . 50 1 Payroll 60,362 . 20 Mr . Stigleman moved that proof of publication on steam generator bids be accepted and filed . Mr . Cecere, City Attorney, examined proof of publication and found it to be correct and in order . Mr . P. Marino seconded Mr . Stigleman ' s motion: and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried . The following bids were opened: (See attached sheet) Mr . Stigleman moved the Board refer the bids to Mr . Beck and Black and Veatch for tabulation, evaluation and recommendation, seconded by Mr . Elstro and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried . Mr . Beck asked for permission to advertise for bids to be opened April 20, for a 1 -ton dump truck to replace a similar truck, a 1959 model which is beyond repair . Mr . P . Marino moved the Board. approve the request, seconded by Mr . Elstro and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. Mr . Beck reported that the Whitewater Valley maintenance program has been completed and is in operation again. It was shut down a little over a week . The Johnson Street Station was used to replace part of the current in order to save some of the expense of buying from Indiana-Michigan . Mr . Beck asked for permission to set aside $350 .00 to pay for expenses of an Industrial League Softball Club for R .P .&L . employees . Mr . Hilligoss moved the Board approve the request, seconded by Mr . Stigleman and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried . Mr . Beck reported that the new Hodgin Substation was turned over to R .P .&L . March 20 of this year , and that subsequently the Johnson Street Station will be shut down this week . If the new operation checks out , the Johnson Street Station coal supply will R .P .&L . Minutes April 6, 1970 be burned down and the station will cease operations to either be dismantled or kept as a stand-by station. Mr . Hilligoss asked whether coal could be ,moved in quickly An case the stati-on is needed for an emergency . Mr . Beck said tt could be moved in as fast as the station could be readied for operations .
