Bid on a Hyster, at $6,693.25 was lowest and best. He recommended that the Board accept the Monarch bid. Councilman Stigleman moved that this be approved, seconded by Councilman Henn and on unanimous voice vote was carried. Mr. Beck reported that Sunday, December 15, the generating stations regis- tered an all-time high for a Sunday, 9,000 kw higher than the previous year' s high. He explained that this was due to more use of electric heat. It also showed that air conditioning installations were also being used for electric heat. He reported that the Wfti.tewater Valley station reported 168 hours for the previous week, working at maximum capacity, which, he said, makes for maximum economy. Total generation for the year to date is 7.6% from a year ago, with the average yearly increase only Mina 52%. Mr. Beck read aloud a newspaper item regarding a court ruling against Hoosier Energy. Under the Yankee-Dixie Plan, Hoosier Energy would combine with Yan- kee Dixie and warned that court litigations could considerably delay the work of Yankee-Dixie. Mr., Cecere agreed with Mr. Beck that it would be foolish to jump into the Yankee-Dixie plan while it is still in question. In answer to a question by Mr. Hilligoss as to whether or not RP&L has ever actually been offered a contracty by Yankee-Dixie, Mr. Beck said that their engineers had been in Richmond several times and wanted RP&L to sign a letter of intent to purchase power from them. He doesn't feel we should sign any- thing until there is a concrete offer. Mr. Henn asked about the state of the Black and Veatch, Consulting Engineers, contract. Mr. Beck said the contract had been sent and investigations would probably come to Richmond some time in January. President Geier thanked the Light Plant Board and Mr. Beck for their work and cooperation throughout 1968. There being no further business on motion duly made, seconded and carried, the meeting adjourned. /s/ Jerry Geier, Chairman Attest: /s/ dl/ Lotte Hoskins, City Clerk
